New "Friday the 13th" Movie Gets a Release Date

New "Friday the 13th" Movie Gets a Release DateSubmit Comment
The 2009 "Friday the 13th" reboot cost only $19 million to make and ended up grossing a whopping $40 million domestically just during its opening weekend. Since movies typically take in three times the opening gross, Warner Bros was expecting to earn at least $120 million from North American theaters.

But that didn't happen. "Friday the 13th" ended up with only $65 million, showing that the film had a great marketing campaign, but terrible word-of-mouth. As a result, the studio decided not to move forward with a sequel.

But then came word that Warner Bros returned the rights to the franchise to Paramount Pictures. And now, shockingly, Paramount has confirmed that it's working on a new "Friday the 13th" movie by setting it for a March 13th, 2015 release.

At this point, there is no official title, a director on board or any cast attached. And it's not clear whether the plan is still to make the film using the "found footage" approach.

That's right Paramount, just keep beating that dead horse. Maybe it'll churn up some profits for you.

Im there.
Liked the originals-funny as sh*t :)
The reboot was pretty good as well with a more serious approach(like Texas Chainsaw), but I am not a huge fan of the found footage direction !!

I like how they just keep rebooting the f*cker until it returns the profits they think it should return.

Reminds me of that old definition of insanity, which is doing the same sh*t over and over again, whilst expecting different results.

Make something fresh, you f*cking worthless *ssholes.

I believe in Jesus, because Jesus believes in me!

Sweet!
But I liked the idea of it taking place in the snow.
SPOILER: Jesus is dead so he doesn't believe in anyone.

can someone tell me why we cant just watch re-releases in HD instead of these try way too hard remakes/reboots/retellings/re-imaginings?

9times outta 10 the remakes get the big budget big promotions and no big payoff

i understand the gamble
but attempting a remake now isnt worth the risk anymore

off the top, The Amazing SpiderMan is probably the most successful recent remake but lil kids dont give a sh*t and parents just want them quiet

my roommates four year old nephew saw Ghostbusters and he was quiet the whole time
and he's a friggin hurricane

sorry for trailin off
Im just makin the comment section seem more populated than it is

you would think a string of minor successful re-releases
instead of bomb after bomb of remakes would make more sense

Yea.. Don't go with FF, that'll be sh*tty for this type of film.
