"Dumb and Dumber To" and "Insidious Chapter 3" Get Release DatesSubmit Comment
Universal Pictures just announced that "Dumb and Dumber To" will hit theaters on November 14th, 2014. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels reprise their roles as Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne in the sequel, which will be released against Brad Pitt's WWII action drama "Fury."

Meanwhile, the third installment in the "Insidious" franchise has been set to hit theaters on April 3rd, 2015, which is becoming one of the biggest years for films. James Wan is not returning to direct. His replacement has yet to be announced.

It's not surprising that "Insidious Chapter 3" is moving forward. The first film became the most profitable movie of 2011 by grossing almost $100 million worldwide on a budget of only $1.5 million. The sequel was released two months ago, grossing $150 million on a budget of $5 million.

April2015 is a long time to wait for a hit low budget horror sequel

Modest money for the second Dumb and Dumber, domestic bomb for Fury, which will do nothing to help Pitt's eroding popularity. Insidious 3 will likely do well, considering the other film's performance, but they should try to move it back (or up?) to October 2014, which can't be difficult to do considering the low-budget nature of the film's content.

Besides, without a Saw, there's not much else one could expect from that year's Halloween season.
