Disney Breaks Its All-Time Box Office Record, Thanks to "Iron Man 3" and "Thor 2"

Disney Breaks Its All-Time Box Office Record, Thanks to "Iron Man 3" and "Thor 2"Submit Comment
With the help of its Marvel acquisition, Disney is happy to announce that it just surpassed its own global box office record. The previous record was $3.791 billion, which was set back in 2010 thanks to "Toy Story 3" and "Alice in Wonderland," both of which grossed over $1 billion.

This year, the studio had "Oz the Great and Powerful," "Monsters University," "Iron Man 3" and "Thor: The Dark World," which is just starting its theatrical run. So there's still plenty of time to break the $4 billion mark.

Despite having such an amazing record, it will likely be crushed very soon. Not only are "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "Guardians of the Galaxy" coming next year, but in 2015, we get "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and "Star Wars: Episode VII."

Disney has it down to a science now.
A cold-fingered, bum-warming science.
And oh, it'll fit. Against every instinct of rejection, they'll work it in. And when that sudden chill pass the point of no return leaves you prey to their shoehorned abuse, you'll take it with a smile hoping each thrust is less tearing than the last.

^^Huh?

Anyway. Well. Now that the studios are making super-record profits from their films, tv ventures, on-demand services and rental contracts, perhaps they'll slack off on the folks downloading dark, shaky sh*t-cams of the latest crap we're going to pay to see eventually anyway.

Oh, right. Greed. I almost forgot.

Yeah, 2015 is looking promising for becoming one of the biggest years for box office.

I'm just wondering if Detrimental is talking about Disney or something more...personal.

Funny how all Disney had to do to turn a huge profit was to pull a Steinbrenner and buy up the best players (Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm).

Without those guaranteed moneymakers, all they'd have is their sh*tty public-domain childhood-classic adaptations (Alice in Wonderland, Oz the Great and Powerful, etc).
