Gerard Butler and Vin Diesel in Talks for "Kane and Lynch" Video Game Movie

Gerard Butler and Vin Diesel in Talks for "Kane and Lynch" Video Game MovieSubmit Comment
Back in 2010, Simon Crane was set to direct Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx in a big screen version of the "Kane and Lynch" video game. The project was eventually delayed and then completely fell apart.

Now comes word that Gerard Butler is in talks to play Kane, while Vin Diesel has been offered the role of Lynch. F. Gary Gray, who directed Butler in "Law Abiding Citizen," is on board to direct "Kane and Lynch."

Plot: Kane (Butler) is a mercenary. Lynch (Diesel) is a schizophrenic with no past. They meet while being transported to Death Row. When they are attacked and kidnapped by Kane's former team, the ill-matched duo is forced to retrieve a stolen microchip that may hold the key to Lynch's true identity.

Could be decent

I'd like it better if the roles were switched, Butler would give one hell of a over-the-top performance...but that's just me.

They could've done a better plot though...microchips?!! That's so 90s.

The only positive thing in this is the helmer, Gray. He picks up simple projects and makes them memorable like The Negotiator and Friday...those, in other hands, could just be a dud. Friday, for example, spends almost the whole time in a stoop! But he made it funny as hell in the execution...

I'm curious what he'll bring to the project.

The game is a generic crap. I don't see how the movie will be any different.

Can anyone tell me why Vin Diesel still has an acting career? I'm not being a smartass, this is a legitimate question.

It'd be different if this was still the age when no-talent action heroes were the "in" thing, but those days have long passed. Arnold and Sly did their thing, and now it's over. Vin Diesel showed up way late to the party, yet people act like he's actually a good actor. He's not. Not even a little. He's a decent background extra for any scenes taking place in a gym, that's about it.

@drewsmit24
The fact that there are SEVEN of those movies is something that gives me headaches any time I think about it. No amount of fast cars in the world can possibly make up for the black hole of talentlessness that is Paul Walker + Vin Diesel. It's completely inexcusable that those movies exist, and yet I can't get ONE sequel to Rock'N'Rolla.

Vin Diesel has a career because the rare remaining real men demand action movies even though there's only two action-oriented actors left in the business.

In other words, desperation on our part keeps Vin working.

i'd be down with Butler as Kane but lynch is a skinny balding psycho that would be better suited to someone completely different, Vin is way off for that character.
