Richard Curtis' "About Time" Convinced Him to Stop Directing Movies

Posted: November 2nd, 2013 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Richard CurtisSubmit Comment
Richard Curtis has only directed three films, "Love Actually," "Pirate Radio" and "About Time," which just hit theaters this weekend. While promoting the time-traveling film, Curtis revealed that he may be done with directing.

"I'm trying to pay attention to the message of 'About Time,' which is try and enjoy your life," he said. "Directing movies is only mildly enjoyable, and I think if I could spend 1,000 days on something, I'd rather spend it with my family."

Even though Curtis is grateful for the opportunity to make movies, he described the process as "a thousand days of pain" and often imagines "how lovely life would be without making films."

But just because he no longer wants to be a director, Curtis admitted that he would still likely to focus on writing, something he's been doing for over thirty years. His writing credits include "Four Weddings and a Funeral," "Bean," "Notting Hill," and "Bridget Jones's Diary."

i thought 'fixing time so you can marry a hot chic despite the fact that youre an unattractive ginger' was the point of this movie

Considering his sh*tty output, Im glad hes stopping his directing career. I only wish he would stop writing screenplays too...

well since he also directed the film Wimbledon as well and he also co-wrote the whole blackadder saga both of which are strangely not mentioned here

@hellsing
That is funny because I actually liked Wimbledon.

@Digital Desperado
Why stop his writing career? You saw the movies they just mentioned, he has written some pretty popular and well-written material.

Why did this stupid f*ck take up a narrow-band profession if he hates it so much? He acts like a beat cop who started out idealistic, thinking he was going to save the world only to end up scraping dead hooker off dark back alleys.

Christ man, you make movies. You're not Atlas or John McClane. Go take your candy-assed world-wearying lucky self somewhere else with that whining.

By the example of his filmography, he doesn't like his job and it shows...

Film is like the a surgeon...not everyone will has the stomach for it, it's not for everybody.

Oh well, I bet movies of his are in DVD's in some people houses (or Wal-Marts $5 bins) being enjoyed somewhere...or whatever...

Vaya con Dios muchacho...
