"The Simpsons" was recently renewed for a 26th season, shattering records to become the longest-running animated series, longest-running sitcom and longest-running scripted primetime series.
To keep the show fresh, producers have been hiring famous artists and filmmakers to create their own openings for "The Simpsons." Guillermo Del Toro recently did one for the Halloween special and Banksy is responsible for the most controversial opening.
The show's opening has also honored other TV series and movies like "Mad Men," "Game of Thrones" and "Catch Me If You Can." And today, we have the opening that will be used for the November 3rd episode, called "4 Regretting and a Funeral." The opening is based on "The Hobbit" and can be watched below.
But like the two other folks said...the fact The Simpsons is now in its twenty-sixth year, with only ten of those years worth watching, says a lot about FOX's commitment to keeping the unfunny series alive.
