First Look at Jason Statham on "Fast and Furious 7" SetPosted: October 29th, 2013 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Vin Diesel just updated his Facebook page with two new photos from the set of "Fast and Furious 7," giving us our first look at Jason Statham, who plays the movie's villain. Check it out below.
Story details are being kept a secret, but the new movie will pick up after the last installment. The rest of the cast includes Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Tony Jaa, Djimon Hounsou, Lucas Black, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, and Nathalie Emmanuel.
James Wan (Saw, Insidious, The Conjuring) is directing "Fast and Furious 7" and is set to hit theaters on July 11th, 2014.

People love to hate these movies but always fail to mention they're entertaining as hell, which is their only intent.
Adding Statham to this installment, with Wan lensing, shouldn't disappoint.

It's definitely being optimistic but I am hoping Wan adds just a little bit of substance. Not much to overshadow the fun aspects but just a little character development to add some icing on the cake. Course, first and foremost, bring on the insane stunts!

@Sleuth: good point. Wan does have a knack for character development, or at least for putting characters through plot developments and have them react genuinely.
I wouldn't want that to overpower what we've all come to expect from Fast and the Furious, which is gratuitous hyperkinetic action set pieces we love to watch and love to bitch about later, like the vault-dragging scene in Fast Five.

Great! Two baldies fighting each other. First, it was the rock vs diesel and now it's statham vs diesel. Do I detect a repeating pattern here?

I thought the vault-dragging scene was awesome! And I love that they didn't do it gracefully where the damn thing was smashing through buildings along the street. The action is clever enough it isn't just particularly obvious what they are doing. And yes Wan will treat this like a chance to find some character elements to work on. There is plenty. Letty's amnesia, Diesel and Johnson's growing friendship, the concept of family. Simple elements at first but show potential for the effects all their past crimes can have these elements.

Letty's amnesia is going to be a bit of fun to write around, I bet and will give Wan plenty of chances to reintegrate her character into the family.
Wonder who they'll kill off though.

We need to see more of Eva Mendes for sure.

I don't think Eva is in it sadly. Would have preferred her more to Lucas Black, you know the poor man-Channing Tatum which is really nothing to be proud of to begin with. LOL

And yeah obviously Letty is going to get her memory back. How might be interesting since, clearly, she will somehow know Statham's character since worked with his brother in the previous film. Honestly I don't see anyone getting killed off. I think they only did Han and his girlfriend because of f*cking Tokyo Drift, the worst mistake in the series. They wanted to use Han but had to kill him off eventually since it was established. And Giselle had to die to give him motivation to go to Tokyo for less than stupid reasons. Like you said though, this is a hyperkinetic action film. The characters survive ridiculous sh*t otherwise! LOL

Two buffed-out greased-up bald actors who play basically the same role in every movie. How are you supposed to tell them apart? Simple.
Jason Statham speaks in his British crime-c*ckney garble while Vin Diesel speaks in his pan-ethnic mush-mouthed garble. Subtitles on, please.

saw Statham's Redemption the other day
he tends to bring more substance to his characters in his British films
and by substance i mean anti-climactic

Is that a scene from the movie or just a set photo of the two actors looking over the script? Because if it's the former, it doesn't seem like Statham is being much of a villain.
Whatever. Just put Michelle Rodriguez in a tanktop.
