Director Kevin Tancharoen Quits "Mortal Kombat" Web Series and Movie

Director Kevin Tancharoen Quits "Mortal Kombat" Web Series and MovieSubmit Comment
We've been talking about a new "Mortal Kombat" movie for years, but no one was more passionate about the project than Kevin Tancharoen. Several years ago, he put together a "Mortal Kombat" short film in hopes that Warner Bros would let him direct a feature length version.

Warner Bros loved the video, but instead of greenlighting a new movie, the studio decided to let Tancharoen direct a "Mortal Kombat" web series, called "Mortal Kombat: Legacy." The idea is that it would be a test of Tancharoen's abilities.

The first season was a huge hit, becoming one of the most-watched web series of all time, receiving over sixty million views. Talks of a "Mortal Kombat" movie started up again, but the next time we heard about the franchise was when Warner Bros was announcing a second season of "Mortal Kombat: Legacy."

Tancharoen once again directed the web series, but apparently he's had enough, possibly realizing that the studio was never going to give him the chance to direct the movie. "After 3 years of 'Kombat,' I've decided to move on to other creative opportunities," he just wrote on Twitter. "I wish everyone involved in the movie big success. Thanks!"

You mean the super awesome director who made the Glee movie and Fame music movie...left...Mortal Kombat??!?

How in the world will the studio ever find another director with such amazing experience to replace him??

@Avirex. John M. Chu is an amazing sh*tty director who rivals Kevin Tanchawhothef*ck. He could fill in as the new director. Both men are repped by WORTHLESS TALENTLESS f*ckS, LLC.

Mortal Kombat as a videogame, but its plot is so weak, that any movie adaptation is forced to go far from the source material to make something half watchable, or stay faithful and make a sh*tty movie.

Good call for tancharoen. Better quit while you're ahead.

@cress

I don't know man its pretty close. I mean Kevin Tanchachochiwtf has worked with iconic people like Btriney Spears and the p*ssycat Dolls. While Jon Chuy has worked with Justin Bieber twice! Warner Bros better decide fast because gifted directors like these are truly rare.

f*cking Warner Bros...

"...it's like they're dreaming about Gorgonzola cheese when it's clearly Brie time, baby!..."

Good for that Tanchisowelt-whatever the guy's name is...

Come on cress, that guy Van Helsing actually has a point...Tandorichicken isn't that bad...just as great if not better than General Tso's Chicken.
