Tom Hanks Wants to Play Batman Villain or The Flash

Tom Hanks Wants to Play Batman Villain or The FlashSubmit Comment
Tom Hanks has played almost every kind of character throughout his amazing Hollywood career. But the actor never played a superhero, a role that he apparently has pursued numerous times.

"They don't ask me. I keep trying... Come on, I can do it. I can do it," he said. "Even let me play a bad guy, let me play the bad guy against Batman. I'll do anything, call me. They've never asked. What do I gotta do? God, I want to throw a shield at somebody. I want that."

Hanks continued: "I don't want to play the guy in the suit who tells the superheroes what's going on, I don't want to be that guy. 'Well, you know Batman, Captain America, Iron Man, here's what we've discovered.' I don't want to be that guy. I want to get in there, I want to play The Flash or something like that. They'll never give me a chance."

Hanks would definitely be an unusual choice to play a superhero, but Marvel and Warner Bros are all about unusual choices.

Question: Which superhero or supervillain would Hanks be right for?

He should play a new villain named Diabetic Coma.

Shave his head, de-age him twenty years and he could play an interesting Lex.

Even though most probably won't agree with me on this.. would like to see him in super villan/comic villian, or even a hero role. I think he is capable, as an actor, to play any type of role as long as it suits him for his age. .I think he is a great actor. He has a lifetime of movies that have been great, II'd like to see him get his wish.
I wouldn't even mind if they gave him Antman, at least he is a great actor, and it would be a different choice for the role.

I agree w minks comments.

I say give him a chance to play a villian, would be interesting.

@badchad

I second that

If anything, WB should give him a chance. What's the worst that could happen, another reboot?

Hahah, yep! I usually agree with your opinions Mink. I only got annoyed about you over doing it on posting on here, and a lot of negative posts so it didn't seem like you even enjoy movies. I'm over it. No hate.
steamluv writes:

Tom Hanks would be an awesome Antman. Throwing that out there. . .
boogiel writes:

Since Tom Hanks played the main character in Saving Private Ryan he could be Captain America.
cress writes:

He could play super villian The Philadelphia Experiment, and he has the power to give his victims AIDS.

lol. Yeah, right. Most of the movies I "hate on" I usually enjoy. Except for Man of Steel.

I'd actually be interested to see him play someone like Hugo Strange.
I think he'd pull it off pretty well.

Mr. Freeze was the first villain that popped in my head for him but I personally hate the idea.

The Leader maybe.

Hammerhead.

Nope !!!
Cannon writes:

All joking aside, Hanks would probably do just fine. Even at 57 he’s a good size guy, fairly slimmed down, and who can be pretty imposing with the right role; consider his hardened killer character in Road to Perdition.

I don’t see why he couldn’t be someone like Mr. Freeze (a la Animated Series version) or, equivalently, Captain Cold to the Flash. Most of the stunt-work in those superhero movies is CGI, anyways. It's not like Henry Cavil is doing much of anything other than posing for shots while digital FX guys have him crashing through buildings ...or Mark Ruffalo, who just stands around. What difference does it make?
Attos writes:

Agreed, Cannon. Though I just don't see the Mr. Freeze thing. I'm not even sure why I can so easily see him as Hugo Strange. I think he would do well with the reserved-composure intellectual type of enemy.

But Mr. Freeze is a special case to me, and a hard one to cast correctly. (Evidenced partly by the monumental failure that was Arnold.) I could see someone along the lines of Michael Fassbender playing him. He's able to pull off the intelligent-but-also-unsettling kind of character.

After all these years and awards Hanks still needs to beg for work?! WTF?!

No sitting on any laurels huh? f*cking Hollywood.

Bob Zemeckis needs to put him to work...

@baygog: my grandmother DID have diabetes, simpleminded schmuck. Type 2. She also had Alzheimer's, a most fearsome and feared disease. I'd joke about that too if given the chance.

So why not take a breath, relax, and realize you don't have any real control over what happens to you in life, which is why we humans evolved "humor".

Thanks for playing.

I actually can see hanks being a good riddler. He has the sense of humor and charisma to play the comedy aspect and the range to flip that and be the deranged maniac.

I think it would be genius

If the do make a Flash movie then Tom can play the role of Jay Garrick as the older flash handing the reins to a younger Wally West.
