First Poster for Stephen King's "Cell" Horror Film, Starring John Cusack

Posted: October 16th, 2013 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
First Poster for Stephen KingSubmit Comment
About a year ago, it was announced that John Cusack (1408) signed on to star in another Stephen King movie, called "Cell." Tod Williams (Paranormal Activity 2) was hired soon after to direct from a script by King and Adam Alleca (The Last House on the Left).

Shooting was supposed to begin in September, but that apparently didn't happen. Instead, we now have a sales poster that will be used to promote the movie at the American Film Market next month. Check it out below.

Plot: When a powerful signal is broadcast across mobile networks worldwide, cell phone users' minds are instantly and dangerously re-programmed. Heading north through New England in search of his wife and son, Clay Riddell (Cusack) is joined by a group of survivors hoping to fend off the blood-thirsty and hyper-connected "phoners."

The Cell was awesome, J-Lo and all that ass.....Cell looks a bout as good as that cheap ass phone in the book cover.

The book was brilliant! I really hope they they do it justice.However we've already had one zombie flick this year - World War Z, will people want to see another one?

The book f*cking sucked. Not sure what you folks read. Probably just excited by more zombies and blood bullsh*t.

I had no idea they were making this. I enjoyed the book when I read it...8 years ago? I'm not sure how I'd find it now. But I think it'd need a good director to tone back some of King's worse tendencies that pop up from time to time. And the team that's been assembled for this is not encouraging.

The book did indeed blow. For a better alternative, watch The Signal.

@Stapes
I was about to say! This is the exact story in "The Signal" except it's broadcast on television instead of cell phones.

@sleuth
Pontypool is another one that's similar, only it's language itself that starts making people insane.

Regarding the differences and similarities between The Signal and Cell

Way more discussion than you will ever see here.

^^You apparently have a lot of things you never take the time to enjoy. Must be nice to have so much disposable cash for sh*t you don't need or want. lol.

God this sounds stupid. like SyFy Original Saturday Night Movie stupid

Originally planned to shoot several years ago with Eli Roth attached to write the script. It was put on indefinite hold due to the writers strike and was considered by most fans and industry insiders to be a dead project. I for one enjoyed the book and am glad to see that it may see it's time on screen.

The ending to this book was stupid. I'm going to assume the movie will be different.
