"Bridesmaids" Director Reveals His Rejected Pitch for "Wonder Woman" Movie

"Bridesmaids" Director Reveals His Rejected Pitch for "Wonder Woman" MovieSubmit Comment
While promoting the Blu-ray release of "The Heat," director Paul Feig (Bridesmaids) spoke about some of his other projects, including a pitch he used to convince Warner Bros to make a "Wonder Woman" movie.

His movie would have a more comedic tone and would feature Wonder Woman struggling to compete in a world where Batman and Superman exist. The male superheroes aren't interested in working with a woman. Feig described them as "jerks."

The director said that his "Wonder Woman" version would be most similar to the tone in "Iron Man." But not surprisingly, the studio rejected his pitch. And even though Feig won't be making a "Wonder Woman" movie, Warner Bros still considers the project a priority.

Refn, the Drive director, wants to make this movie.
He wants Christina Hendricks to play Wonder Woman.
That's a perfect casting choice.

In other words, some candy-assed Jewish white guy wanted to make a comic book movie that panders to women's sense of sexual victimization, one even Gloria Steinem wouldn't want to see, and DC said go shove a menorah up your keister instead.

That pitch sucks. No way WW would be vying for anybody's attention

That sounds terrible but the concept in theory, doing Wonder Woman as a comedy, has promise. Robert Smigel wrote a great Green Lantern script for Jack Black.

But none of the studios (especially WB and Marvel) want to poke fun at their superheroes, even the ones with invisible planes and magic bracelets and giant stars-and-stripes panties and a truth whip because they were originally designed as an adulterer's dominatrix fantasy.
