Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson Says "Gravity" Has Some Flaws

Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson Says "Gravity" Has Some FlawsSubmit Comment
Astrophysicist Dr Neil deGrasse Tyson often comments on the science in popular Hollywood movies in hopes of getting people interested in space, physics and other sciences. He famously noticed that the stars in the sky of James Cameron's "Titanic" were incorrect for that date and time. Cameron took that seriously and corrected the mistake.

Today, Tyson dissected "Gravity," pointing out some of the film's flaws. He mentioned that he found "Gravity" very entertaining, before stating the following:

* Why is Bullock, a medical Doctor, servicing the Hubble Space Telescope?

* How are Hubble (350mi up), ISS (230mi up) and a Chinese Space Station are all in sight lines of one another?

* When Clooney releases Bullock's tether, he drifts away. In zero-G a single tug would bring them together.

* Why is Bullock's hair, in otherwise convincing zero-G scenes, did not float freely on her head?

* Nearly all satellites orbit Earth west to east. Yet all satellite debris portrayed orbited east to west.

* Satellite communications were disrupted at 230mi up, but communications satellites orbit 100x higher.

* Astronaut Clooney informs medical doctor Bullock what happens medically during oxygen deprivation.

Anyone else get annoyed with Tyson's smug sense of self importance? I am looking forward to hus updated version of COSMOS that's due to air on FOX, though.. It looks like an ambitious project for network television.

Here's this mulatto multicultural Dr Doolittle nitpicking movies instead of performing actual science.

You mean the one that uses modern technology to expand on Carl Sagan's similarly titled series?

And this guy acts like he was first instead of receiver of scientific sloppy seconds.

Yes, Mink, that's one. I don't care if it has Neil The Ass Tyson, it still looks promising, and a welcome sight in the age of Toddlers and Tiaras, Survivor, Sleepy Hollow, or whatever other mind-numbing sh*t the sheeple call entertainment these days.

Will probably be cancelled after the premiere due to poor ratings.

Well, there's always books. It's not like the television straps them down and forces them to watch it.

Scary thing when people start talking of watching television like they have no choice in that matter.

:D

You think this is bad? Try watching "Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade" in a room full of Archaeologists.

Its okay to be afraid of intelligence guys. Nothing wrong with someone being 100x smarter then you, and this is how he spends his free time so who are we to judge?

We all know black people can't be astrophysicists.

I mean, just look at that picture above: he probably stole that telescope.
