First Poster for Tom ClancySubmit Comment
It was just reported that author Tom Clancy passed away, and now, Paramount Pictures has unveiled the poster for "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit," based on Clancy's popular character, played by Chris Pine (Star Trek) in the film. Check out the poster below and come back on Thursday for the trailer.

In "Shadow Recruit," Jack Ryan is a young covert CIA analyst who uncovers a Russian plot to crash the US economy with a terrorist attack. The film co-stars Keira Knightley, Kevin Costner, Peter Andersson, Kenneth Branagh, David Paymer and Colm Feore.

The new movie is directed by Kenneth Branagh (Thor) and is set to hit theaters on Christmas (December 25th).

Chris Pine will probably also play Indiana Jones, proving no role is too good to be undervalued by some robotic GQ mannequin with little to no talent or charisma.

*cue the "but he was so darned radical in Star Trek" posts*

I hate Pine. He whines in every single one of his roles.

Is the Paramount marketing department retarded?

Jesus Christ, what a snore of a poster. How generic and routine can you get. And am I the only one noticing the Star Trek font? What the hell is up with that? Must those sh*tty reboots infect everything these days?

Anyways, at the risk of sounding petty, there should not be a gun in Chris Pine's hand. That’s not the character of Jack Ryan. Ryan is not an action hero spy, but a thinking-man analyst first and foremost who uses his wits and academics to solve problems. It’s okay to put a gun in his hand at some point, when thrust into the direst of circ*mstances like, say, the film’s climax, but it shouldn’t be a default feature of the character, and they shouldn’t poster him that way.

@Cannon: yep. Star Trek font. I didn't even click on the image until your observation compelled me to confirm it.

"Anyways, at the risk of sounding petty, there should not be a gun in Chris Pine's hand."

How else would you man-up an unmanly individual like Pine? Give him an ascot and a scarf? Perhaps a cigar and a French aperitif?

Methinks you're confusing the books with the previous movies, as Ford's Ryan is not only clearly carrying a weapon in the Patriot Games poster, he's aiming to kill.

I also see some resemblance between Ford and Pine, but the former is by far the superior actor, and always will be as far as I am concerned.

Jack Ryan always a little bit CIA Bond anyway.

That's obviously a fake poster that you photo-shopped together. Don't ever correct me again with your false ways! f*cking commie!

Okay, so, yeah. Still, the above is a lame poster regardless.
