Batman Prequel TV Series "Gotham" in the Works

Batman Prequel TV Series "Gotham" in the WorksSubmit Comment
Warner Bros has announced that 20th Century Fox has acquired the rights to the upcoming live-action "Gotham" TV series, which will take place in the same world that Batman exists, but will not actually feature the character.

Instead, the series will explore the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and the villains who made Gotham City famous. In "Gotham," Gordon is still a detective with the Gotham City Police Department and has yet to meet Batman.

Created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane, Commissioner Gordon appeared in comic books as well as Batman films and TV series, including in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" trilogy, where he was played by Gary Oldman.

"Gotham" is created by Bruno Heller ("The Mentalist") and has already received the greenlight to become a series.

So basically DC is copying Marvel's move. They already have Arrow and planning Flash and now Commissioner Gordon? This has the potential to become a big mess.

THANK YOU WORST PREVIEWS for acknowledging Bill Finger. Holy effing ess I cannot state how moronic and asinine networks are that fail to acknowledge Bill Finger.

...With that said this show looks "ehhh"

Sooo ...Law & Order. Set in a fictional city for no good reason seeing that Batman will not be involved. Awesome.

Yeah, that's the problem with Batman movies and TV shows: "Too much Batman."

Sounds boring.

Yawn. How are you going to have Gotham, one of the most recognizable fictional cities without it's most popular figure? This will be awful. Much rather have a Smallville type Batman TV show.

Whats next? Metropolis without superman?
No wait, I got it. Asgard, without Thor!
Stark Industries, without Tony Stark. Starring a young Obadiah!

So pretty much it's going to be Smallville except for dealing with Bruce and it's going to be called Gotham. Wonder if they will set it in the same time period. It would have to be.

the villains that made Gotham famous didnt show up till Batman did

was Gordon such a badass that he deserved his own show?

is there gonna be a Gordon breakfast cereal next with little mustaches?

Bruno is no Mentalist at all
if this is his sophomore effort at a show, then this guy should just f*ckoff with Seth and Jonah

Oh wow...they tried to do this years ago and that is how Smallville came into existence because I guess they thought it was too dark or something.

I love Batman, but this sounds like sh*t. "explore the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and the villains who made Gotham City famous"

There weren't any villians before Batman started it was all crime families it wasn't until a little later into Batman's career that the crazies started to come in.
KillerCOck writes:

I wonder if it'll be like Gotham Central. That'd be kinda cool.
CelluloidMan writes:

The Superman Vs Batman movie is really reaching, but this thing reeks of desperation...

Get over it, DC. Stop squeezing the juice out of this one, it's dry you bastards...get something else out there.

What? They're not confident in their own characters?
AngryBird writes:

IF the show is anything like the Gotham Central comic series, it'll be a definite watch for me.
