First Look: Disney's Live-Action "Cinderella" Film

Posted: September 24th, 2013 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
First Look: DisneySubmit Comment
Disney just announced that it has started filming its first-ever live-action "Cinderella" movie in London. And along with the announcement, the studio unveiled the first photo of Lily James (Wrath of the Titans, "Downton Abbey") as the title character. Check out the photo below, along with some concept art.

The story follows the fortunes of young Ella (James) whose merchant father remarries following the tragic death of her mother. Keen to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new stepmother Lady Tremaine (Cate Blanchett) and her daughters Anastasia (Holliday Grainger) and Drisella (Sophie McShera) into the family home. But, when Ella's father suddenly and unexpectedly passes away, she finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel new family.

Finally relegated to nothing more than a servant girl covered in ashes, and spitefully renamed Cinderella, Ella could easily begin to lose hope. Yet, despite the cruelty inflicted upon her, Ella is determined to honor her mother's dying words and to "have courage and be kind." She will not give in to despair nor despise those who abuse her.

And then there is the dashing stranger she meets in the woods. Unaware that he is really a prince (Richard Madden), not merely an employee at the Palace, Ella finally feels she has met a kindred soul. It appears as if her fortunes may be about to change when the Palace sends out an open invitation for all maidens to attend a ball, raising Ella's hopes of once again encountering the charming "Kit." Alas, her stepmother forbids her to attend and callously rips apart her dress. But, as in all good fairy tales, help is at hand as a kindly beggar woman (Helena Bonham Carter) steps forward and, armed with a pumpkin and a few mice, changes Cinderella's life forever.

"Cinderella" is directed by Kenneth Branagh (Thor) from a script by Chris Weitz (About a Boy, The Golden Compass). It's set to hit theaters on March 13th, 2015.

Yeah, the old Mink reported this yesterday.

The new Cinderella is named Ella instead and has huge tits. It's Disney's way to make the classics more approachable, I guess.

Gee whizz, I bet those little kids everywhere are waiting for those boobs to come tumbling out! Anyway, How many f*ckin' Cinderella movies are they going to make? Seriously, every teen starlet has made a Cinderella version.

Didn't even know this was happening. Isn't there another live action Disney princess movie coming out in summer 2015 as well with Angelina Jolie?

What's annoying to me is that they haven't changed any of the traditional mythos that would flip the idea on its own head. Sometimes the ending would follow Shrek or something different, but every 5 years that have to remake the same exact tale of these traditional folk stories. Come on, where's your balls Disney... ?
