"Insidious: Chapter 2" Takes First Place at Box Office with $41 MillionSubmit Comment
"Insidious: Chapter 2," which is James Wan's last horror film following such hits as "Saw," "Insidious" and "The Conjuring," took first place at the domestic box office with a whopping $41 million debut.

"Insidious 2 is now a massive success, since it cost only $5 million to make. The movie, however, failed to surpass the opening numbers of Wan's "The Conjuring" ($41.9 million) and fell short of setting a September record. The current record-holder is "Hotel Transylvation," which opened to $42.5 million last year.

The horror sequel grossed another $5 million overseas for a worldwide debut of $46 million. It has a 38% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes. A third "Insidious" film is now almost definitely going to happen. Wan has no plans to return.

The other new wide release of the weekend was Luc Besson's "The Family," starring Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer and Tommy Lee Jones. The film opened to second place, taking $14.5 million. While that's not an impressive result for such a movie with such a strong cast, "The Family" cost only $30 million, which means it will have no problem becoming profitable. It has a 33% fresh rating.

I actually just left the 10pm show of this cuz i be drankin. It was not bad but is not like the first one. More comedic and jump scares. Leigh Whannel is a ghostbuster with the other guy and their sh*t brwaks.

Audience laffd.

7/10.

So guys, I just saw the unrated version of World War Z, it doesn't change the story but at least the blood and gore are visible and it's pretty awesome. Matthew Fox got cut entirely this time and the "teeth" scene at the end was also left out, which was ridicoulus. Anyway, a solid 7.5 for me.

@ Coldplay
When you say the "teeth" scene got cut from the end, are you talking about the zombie staring at Brad Pitt chattering his teeth in the med lab?

his leather bag was funny

are you talkin about Elyse??
everybody cheered when she showed up

i had a chance to see I2 opening night but i wasnt sitting on the floor so i left

Luc Besson used to be one of my favourite directors. Stick to action films Luc and don't get lazy actors like Deniro in your films.

Studios love nothing more than talented directors creating new franchises. Wan is the goose who lays the golden egg. Good for him.
