Batman Will Be Tired and Weary in "Man of Steel" Sequel

Batman Will Be Tired and Weary in "Man of Steel" SequelSubmit Comment
Back when Warner Bros was still in talks with actors to play Batman in "Man of Steel 2," there were rumors that the superhero would be older and less capable of the physical stunts performed in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" trilogy.

Now that we know that Ben Affleck will play the role, Warner Bros CEO Kevin Tsujihara spoke about the casting, confirming that Batman will definitely be less active in the sequel, describing the character as "tired, and kind of weary and seasoned."

He went on to say: "Ben is perfect for the vision Zack [Snyder] has for that character. The fact that you saw such a passionate response in the blogosphere is really kind of a testament to the love that people have for this character."

Snyder taking a lot of elements from dk reruns . No complaints here, it is one of the best batman stories

'Batman Will Be Tired and Weary in "Man of Steel" Sequel'

Sounds about right because whenever I see Ben Affleck, tired is the first thing to come in my mind.

Boy, that just sounds sooo fun, doesn't it?

I mean, more naval gazing Superman who now meets up with a tired, mopey Batman in Snyder's continuing colorless, joyless, self-serious world of DC superheroes.

Can't wait.

Fans are passionate because they don't want to see the character butchered. If that's the case, then Batfleck need not put on a costume, train for the role, or anything really. Brolin really would have been better for the role if WB is really going to go this route. Affleck may have improved somewhat as an actor, but he doesn't really have the chops for this.

@Mak

Good point. If they really wanted to depict a haggard but wise Batman, why go with Affleck, who still looks too clean-cut and always has that doofus, confused, 'awe-shucks-my-puppy-died' persona, even in his best roles? Especially in favor of Brolin, who would have been near perfect for this interpretation. Or, hell, even Karl Urban.

In fact, f*ck this altogether and just give us Dredd 2.

Guy Pearce would have been way better too.

f*ck it just replace Ben with Mel Gibson.

I'll be tired and weary by the time the film is released; especially with all the Affleck anti-hype.

And how the f*ck did that lead to Ben Afleck? What the f*ck am I missing?
minkowski writes:

No, tired and weary would be anyone who suffered through Man of Steel.

"there were rumors that the superhero would be older and less capable of the physical stunts performed in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" trilogy."

Odd. Batman is older, and yet he never heard about Superman until now? So is Man of Steel inthe future, or the present? When was TDK and BB and TDKR set? The nineties?

Bizarre way to approach the situation. Seems DC has no game plan and they think by throwing Batman, their all-star and only-star character into the mix, they can breathe life into Superman, which as can be seen from Man of Steel, isn't exactly winning people over at the BO and pushing DC into Marvel's performance territory.

Also, didn't see many stunts in the first three Batman films at all. Lots of him standing around throwing poorly choreographed punches and Batman piloting the Tumbler about Gotham, but nothing I would call physically demanding.

And let's be honest: Affleck is only a few years older than Bale.
