Tim Roth to Star in "The Keys to the Street," Written by Christopher NolanSubmit Comment
When Christopher Nolan writes a script, he usually ends up directing the movie. But Variety is now reporting that Gemma Arterton and Tim Roth have signed on to star in "the Keys to the Street," which is based on the Ruth Rendell novel and was adapted by Nolan and Michael Stokes. Czech helmer Julius Sevcik is on board to direct. The plan is to begin shooting next year in London.

Plot: The story centers on a woman named Mary Jargo (Arterton). As a means to get away from her psychotic ex-boyfriend (Roth), she takes a job house-sitting in Regent Park - one of the most snobbish areas of the city - and while doing so begins to help and feed the homeless people who live nearby, as nobody else in the neighborhood will.

After befriending a group of homeless people, Mary discovers that some of them are being murdered and having their heads put on the spiked fence that surrounds the park. The heroine takes it upon herself to solve the murder, and in doing so begins to come out of her shell and face her own personal demons.

Also set to star in the film is Max Irons (Red Riding Hood), who will play a man that Mary has an affair with.

Sounds like a Nancy Drew mystery-meets-Surviving The Game...Really? Good luck with that. Maybe Nolan will write it in an interesting way...maybe...doubt it. There's gotta be a good reason he's not helming.

Bet they'll probably underuse Roth and let the string team try & keep things interesting...

So direct to dvd it is, then?

Will give a try, since Nolan write it and is not directing this.

Tim Roth is literally 25 years older than Gemma, yet he is playing her lover/ex.

His character must be a billionaire or some sh*t.

More stupid Nolan sh*t, this time a contrived plot involving homeless people who hang out in "snobbish" areas in which in reality they would never be allowed to live, and yet, somehow, this is also the very area they're getting beheaded and spiked.

Would make far more sense if they lived in a Whitechapel (circa 1888) kind of area instead, but then this is Nolan.

But where's the convoluted mind mechanics Nolan? Doesn't there have to be some plot about the inner working of the brain and some predictable twist?
