Back in 1998, Tim Burton was set to direct a brand new Superman movie, called "Superman Lives." Nicolas Cage was attached to star, Kevin Smith wrote the script, and Warner Bros threw millions of dollars at the project before killing it due to budget concerns. The script featured Braniac, Doomsday and Lex Luthor as villains.
Today, we have a trailer for the "Death of Superman Lives" documentary that examines what exactly happened to the project through interviews with the many people who were involved with it.
"Death of Superman Lives" has been raising money on KickStarter, eventually surpassing its goal of $98,000 with a total of $115,110 in donations. The plan is to release the movie next summer.
Cage looks like he's wearing a Fruit Roll-Up in that pic.

i thought a 'fruit roll up' was when gay guys hit on you from a moving car
when a homo prepares a joint/blunt

I'll watch it. That sh*tty trannyman pic that WP keeps associating with that Cage/Superman story is NOT what he would have looked like in the role. Cage could have been a good Superman given a good workout program and an even better hair piece.
I think what really doomed the project at the time was what it would've cost FX wise to include Doomsday.

I don't care enough about Superman to care if the movie would have been sh*t or not, I just think it would be hilarious to see Nicolas Cage flying about in a cape with lazers coming out of his big cocaine fuelled eyes.

Basically a "movie" with a bunch of fat nerds talking about a sh*tty film that never got made.
