Director Paul Greengrass Says He Won't Return for "Jason Bourne 5"

Posted: September 4th, 2013 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Director Paul Greengrass Says He WonSubmit Comment
We already know that Jeremy Renner is returning for a fifth "Jason Bourne" film, but recently came a rumor that Matt Damon and "Bourne Ultimatum" director Paul Greengrass were in talks to join the new movie. The plan was to merge the original three films with Renner's "Bourne Legacy" spin-off.

While promoting his new "Captain Phillips" movie, Greengrass was asked to comment on the rumor. "I have absolutely no idea," he said. "I'm not being funny. That's just a figment of someone's imagination."

When asked about the last he has discussed the franchise with Damon, the director replied: "Quite a while ago. We might have a laugh about it, but a serious conversation? Not for a long time."

Finally, Greengrass was asked if he has any interest in directing another "Jason Bourne" installment. "Listen, I loved the 'Bourne' movies," he said. "I loved making them, but it's like anything in life, you've got to move on and do different things."

Damon has consistently said that he will only reprise his role if Greengrass directs. And since Greengrass will likely never return to the franchise, it looks like neither will Damon.

"i have absolutely no idea"

DAMN,your misleading headlines!

The Star, much like your Antonio Sabato Jr. blowup dolls, have plenty of openings
you should apply there
then fill them

I have all the respect for Greengrass. I mean damn he could write his own ticket by doing another Bourne film but instead he continues to do different films instead. Good for you Greengrass.

Good. The franchise should stop after the third movie.

My thing is, why does it HAVE to be Greengrass?! He isn't the end all and be all.

Doug Liman was the one that set the template for the grittiness, the doc*mentary style shoot, and the realistic Krav Maga martial arts fight sequences...

Why hasn't Liman been asked to come back?! He'd be coming full circle to the project. I bet he could still make another good one, IMO.

On the other hand, I thought the same thing about Spielberg coming back to Indy 4...

For the first time ever, I can agree with Cell. Identity was by far the best film of the series, so why the f*ck is Greengrass the guy they need? Because Damon likes the taste of his d*ck? What, he didn't enjoy working with Liman?

Awe, gee, and I was hoping for more sh*tty camerawork.

Watching a Greengrass film is about as fun as eating paste.
