Writer Says "Iron Man 3" Ending Will Help "Avengers: Age of Ultron"

Posted: September 1st, 2013 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Writer Says "Iron Man 3" Ending Will Help "Avengers: Age of Ultron"Submit Comment
While promoting the upcoming DVD/Blu-ray release of "Iron Man 3," writer Drew Pearce revealed that he knew that Joss Whedon wanted to use Ultron in the upcoming "Avengers" sequel an entire year before the villain was announced at Comic-Con. He also commented on how "Iron Man 3" ties into the new movie.

SPOILERS AHEAD:

At the end of "Iron Man 3," Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) finally removes the shrapnel from his chest, which means that he no longer needs the Arc Reactor. Lots of fans responded negatively to this, but Pearce says that Whedon wanted that scene to be included.

"We take his Arc Reactor out, but I think we also make a pretty definite statement that he is Iron Man," said the writer. "And although Joss isn't part of the process, he saw all the cuts of the movie, so I've got to assume he knows exactly what he wants to do with Tony in ['Avengers: Age of Ultron'] and how we've left [Tony Stark] is going to help that, not hinder it."

Pearce went on to say that even though new characters (Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver) will be included in "Avengers: Age of Ultron," the team from the first film will remain intact. "The core of Avengers will still be our Avengers. There will, of course, be other characters in the mix, but I think Joss is really good at creating a family and then pulling them apart. So I suspect that the first [part] in that movie will be kicking the sh*t out of those characters to see how they cope as a group."

I recently saw The Mad Max Trilogy, is really great how the myth evolves in those movies.

Hopefully the next movies will be up at the same level of any of the three earlier films.

Great movies.

@sedibus

Did you know that when Max sets the trap up on the guy at the end of the first film that that was the inspiration for James Wan and Leigh Whannell to make the first saW film?

I think they even borrowed some of Mel's lines from that scene for Tobin Bell to say in saW.
sedibus writes:

@Deaft0ne: Yeah, I know, I recalled that right when Max was delivering his dialogue to the guy when he gave him the Chainsaw.

The 2nd and 3rd saW films are not bad, Leigh Whannell did not write any more after that. They went downhill with the last 4 movies.

Those chick flicks he made are not respectable.gamer is a weak attempt of running man.dracula 2000 was just dreadful.his character in tomb raider could of been plsued by anyone.he should of returned for 300.which was the film that recognized him.now im glad hes been replaced by a new guy.hopefully he does a better job.

@Tanman: Yeah, man, very good films, anytime.

As for the quality of the first one, I was thinking the same thing. IT could have been better if the ideas were more grounded as for what they wanted. Yes.

With Whedon, I must dmit I enjoyed the Buffy movie, Never finished Serenity, I didn´t bothered with the series, I thought Avengers and Cabin in the Woods were good.

I haven´t read his comic book writing, though.

You can get The Mad Max Trilogy at The PirateBay.sx right on.

Iron Man 3 was good but not that good. I think Avengers 2 will be good as long as is not a re-hash of the first one.

Thanos will be f*cking the sh*t out of the team.

Marvel is kicking DC´s Cinematic Universe Ass.

I rewatched yesterday Man of Steel and is really good.

I have always thought that DC have greater characters and story arcs than those in Marvel, by the way.
minkowski writes:

Avengers was disposable comic book sh*t. Cabin in the Woods was downright stupid. An underground zoo of movie monsters and a team of idiots sacrificing kids to a gigantic monster who will destroy the world if it doesn't get fresh blood? Really?

And Firefly. Boring as f*ck. A Western with science fiction elements? Yeah, it's called Star Wars. f*ck you Whedon. All skull, no brain.

I wonder when Cress is going to realize Air Force One came out in 1997, not 1992, five years after he erroneously claimed Ford became "irrelevant".

"A box office success with generally supportive critical reviews, the film was one of the most popular action films of the 90s, and sitting U.S. President Bill Clinton praised it."

"grossed a total of $315,156,409 worldwide in the box office. It was the year's fifth highest-grossing film worldwide."

Stupid ass.
minkowski writes:

"Avengers is way better than man of steel and iron man 3"

Definitely better than Man of Steel, but only marginally better than Iron Man 3, mostly because in so many ways, both films are nearly identical in tone, tenor, style and substance.

Cabin in the Woods, though, was awful, and for a film that was supposed to be so damned inventive, I found myself predicting what would happen from beginning to end, which is surprising because I am not a fan of horror films.

The only aspect, then, of Cabin in the Woods I did not predict was the inane monster museum, or the super monster/god, whatever it was. Needless to say, though, even the latter was something I had "seen" in old horror anthologies like Masters of Darkness.

I think people enjoyed Cabin in the Woods for the "humor" and for the parodic take on the genre, but even then, a horror film not taking itself seriously is hardly cause for applause.
sedibus writes:
on September 1st, 2013 at 6:26:42 PM

Is always the same track playing "it could have been better", but the thing is, I guess, that it begins and ends with where the foundations of this artists ideas are coming from, and how talented they are.

I guess Whedon deserves what he got, I wouldn´t even change anything of his movies, although, as I said before, never finished watching Serenity, neither was I interested in taking a shot at Firefly.

I never cared about Buffy or Angel, but there was I time when I saw a bunch of the later and enjoyed them very much.

However, I think, Anne Rice wrote several good books about Vampirism with her Vampire Chronicles and those Witches books.

Still, I think I have not seen nor read good material related to Werewolfs and their myths.

I know White Wolf have some good stuff.

CITW have its moments, when Thor dies was one, but yeah, Mink, they f*cked it up bad when they didn´t take their material that seriously.
minkowski writes:
on September 1st, 2013 at 6:54:09 PM

I'm not saying it could have been better, I'm saying it could have not sucked.

Cabin in the Woods tried to go "meta-horror", and it was, imo, a very clumsy and hamfisted attempt, which would carry little weight if we were talking Paul Anderson and not Lord Whedon.

Same goes for Nolan. You can't hold these people up as cinematic gods and then excuse their failings or pretend such failures don't exist, and you really can't dismiss out of hand any criticism of their works, like people did and still do regarding films such as The Dark Knight.

If people such as Whedon and Nolan are going to be held up as exemplars of cinematic excellence, then they have to be judged according to the standard they claim to represent. You can't say Whedon is such and such, and then excuse him when he very predictably blows up Hemsworth on a motorcycle, or when he spends sixty minutes thoughtlessly retreading Sam Raimi's The Evil Dead or Michael Bay's Transformers: Dark of the Moon, but hey, that scene in Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom is a real howling theatrical fubar, huh?

When were YOU last relevant, huh? Never? That's right. Never. You sit on here and crack one awful remark after another, but then try to slam two actors who had more going for them in the first decade of their lives then you have had in five of yours, and then, you can't even get the damned joke right, lumping 1992 in with 1997, when Clinton didn't even take the presidency until January of 1993. f*cking fool.

But hey, keep telling those idiotic jokes, Cress, because one day soon you too will have the merit and acclaim of "irrelevant" people such as Ford and Arnold.

Well, it's from the creators of BARAKA. Still, some beautiful visuals, though...

The film that got me to like Gosling was CRAZY STUPID LOVE. Him and Steve Carell played off each other perfectly. Then DRIVE made me like him more. ONLY GOD FORGIVES was a letdown, though.

Give Gosling another five years and he'll have his own Pirates-esque franchise.

I don't hate Gosling either, I liked Drive and Half Nelson and Lars and the Real Girl. Also Blue Valentine but that movie was so sad i'd never watch it a second time.

Only God Forgives was poop though.

Damn cress, I need to watch TACMA.

Refn almost had touches a Kubrick film in parts of that flick, in that it had a "horror of humanity" feel in certain scenes, if that makes any sense.

Yes, DeaftOne, you do. I'm not joking either. Just want to clarify that, since THAT'S ALL I DO. :)

In case you didn't read it in another thread, I had my Tanman moment last night. I liked RIPD. Jeff Bridges was funny as hell, and I have a newfound boner for Mary Louise Parker. I wasn't high when I watched it either. Please explain...

@cress

I don't get why mink flipped out on you for mistaking the release year of Air Force One. It is needless to argue over that in any capacity.

If anyone pays attention to the films Harrison Ford acts in, less than half are really any good. Most of the time he acts in tepid pablum like Random Hearts or The Devil's Own or Hollywood Homicide or What Lies Beneath.

He seems like a nice guy but I think he is mostly just collecting a paycheck.

MLP is hot on Weeds amd a picture-perfect MILF. I might dl RIPD when its on PB in a dvd quality torrent.

I could've said '93 or '95 or '97. I just chose '92, as it was meant to convey, in my joke world, a long passage of time. Any other 90s year would've worked, but I just chose '92. Mink doesn't like me, but being anal over a joke tells me he needs to lighten the f*ck up. I don't like everything he says in his comments, but I don't start calling him a dumbass and f*cking retard because of it.

RIPD is dvd quality now

Lol, I might dl it now then but I wanna watch TACMA on YouTube™ first.

Too bad this Avengers sequel is gonna be PG-13 rated just like the first one. I wanted to see Black Widow lose her top in battle and then she's jumping around in a fierce gun battle and her bare boobs are bouncing around all the while. Because a secret agent wouldn't stop fighting just because he or she lost part of his or her outfit, he or she would keep right on kicking ass.

DAMN I love those puppies with their little pink noses
