New "Scooby-Doo" Movie in the Works

Posted: August 27th, 2013 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
New "Scooby-Doo" Movie in the WorksSubmit Comment
Back in 2002, Warner Bros released a live-action "Scooby-Doo" movie that was written by James Gunn (director of Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy") and starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze, Jr, Matthew Lillard, Seth Green, and Alicia Silverstone. The film grossed $275 million worldwide on a budget of $84 million. A sequel was quickly greenlit and released in 2004, but it grossed only $181 million.

The studio apparently feels that there's still some money to be made from the franchise, because it is now developing an animated "Scooby-Doo" movie that will be released in theaters. Matt Lieberman ("Short Circuit" reboot) is writing the script.

"Scooby-Doo" was created in 1969 by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears. The original animated TV series focused on a group of mystery-solving teenagers, Daphne, Fred, Shaggy, Velma and their cowardly dog, Scooby-Doo. Since then, there have been numerous TV spin-offs and direct-to-video projects, in addition to the two live-action movies.

Have to say the main cast in that film was perfect but the CGI scooby was just sh*t, hence it will never work.

Ben Affleck has been cast as Shaggy.
Jaden Smith is rumored for Scooby.

The only good recent incarnation of Scooby Doo came in a season 2 episode of The Venture Bros.

Other than that, who really cares?

Recently rewatched the first movie, and it was excellent at maintaining the kid factor, but being entertaining enough for adults to enjoy it as well, with several sly adult references.

Out of the animated films I've seen, I only really liked Zombie Island.

Matthew Lillard was the perfect Shaggy so I would say bring him back. Apparently he did the character so well that he has been voicing the character ever since in the animated films. Still I agree with BlackDynamite that Zombie Island was the best interpretation although lately it's been more about the villains being real supernatural creatures instead of fake like in the cartoons. I would appreciate the old vintage detective story if they did a new one. And animated is the best one since it fits the colorful nature of the characters.

As a child I enjoyed the original HB cartoons, but the live-action movies were something awful. Either do the damned movie right, including a passable CGI dog, or go kill yourself.

"Ill wait for some pictures before passing judgement"

If you're lucky, hellsingfan, someone might do up a Shaggy/Fred/Scooby orgy animated short.

In the short, Fred has his d*ck in Shaggy's ass and Scooby has his d*ck in Shag's mouth. Hence the term "shagging".

You'd like that, I bet.
