James Cameron Also Writing Four "Avatar" Novels

James Cameron Also Writing Four "Avatar" NovelsSubmit Comment
James Cameron is currently working on screenplays for three new "Avatar" sequels. Apparently four movies is not enough to show everything about "Avatar," because Cameron has now teamed with sci-fi author Steven Charles Gould (Jumper) to put together four stand-alone "Avatar" novels in order to expand the world that he has created.

"Steven Gould is one of the shining lights in contemporary science fiction, and I've long admired the worlds and characters he's created in his books and stories," said Cameron. "We're very fortunate to have Steven bring his formidable talents to the 'Avatar' universe. He is already working closely with me and the screenwriters to flesh out the expanding world of 'Avatar.'"

The screenwriters he's talking about are Josh Friedman (War of the Worlds), Shane Salerno (Savages) and the team of Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), who are co-writing "Avatar 2," "Avatar 3" and "Avatar 4," which will be filmed simultaneously next year. They will then be released every year in December starting in 2016.

Yes, the guy who wrote Jumper and a sh*tload of left-wing environmentalist crap.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Gould#Novels

"Wildside (Tor, 1996): Alternative universe, set in Texas: a group of high school graduates find a hole into an alternative reality, a pristine world unspoiled by man and human-caused extinctions. They start a gold business and are discovered by the government"

THAT'S why Cameron got this guy. To write more of Cameron's bad humanity, good Earth enviro-loving American Indian on Pandora narrative sh*t, but I love the way he tries to spin it like he hired Stephen Baxter instead.

You're dead to me, Jim.

Science fiction now means rooting for Mother Earth and homosexuality. That's why I stopped reading it. f*cking propaganda. Couldn't even read The Accidental Time Machine without the idiot author taking fanatical stabs at Christianity.

Who the hell would seriously buy these? To most people they will just see them as typical movie tie-in sh*t. Which it is anyways. That Avatar PS3 game was a POS too.

Avatar was Soooo 5 years ago

Are these confirmed as stand-alone novels? I thought these 4 novels would more or less be adaptations of the films? 4 seems like an arbitrary number unless it's to match the films.

Also, it's great news. Cameron having people to collaborate with on these films will only be a good thing in terms of narrative and character complexity. He's the king of making sequels that blow the originals away, he'll probably do it again. You don't bet against Cameron.

Jim.....Jimmy.....come on man....now you are going so far out there that you are undefendable by even your staunchest supporters.

what this reeks to high heaven of is this, you are trying to drive home the point of how important you think YOU and YOUR AVATAR IDEA's are. You think you are gods gift to the human race as a storyteller.

you think you can make something that will have the social importance of ghandi, the cultural impact of rock and roll and the universal love and unending devotion and support as star wars fan have given.

I cannot begin to fully explain not only how pretentious, self-congragulatory and indulgent, holier than thou art this seems to the average fan and movie goer. But also just how pathetic and truly sad this makes you seem.

I have completely lost any and all hope that you can be saved from yourself after this long and arduous journey off the deep end of the sanity pool of life. You truly are dead to me now.

never again shall I enjoy a film with your minds threads weaving throughout. For you have been completely lost to tge black hole of your own ego's ego's ego. Thats how balls deep into yourself you are jim. Argof*ckyourself

Politics aside, this seems like overexposure to the extreme. Maybe I'm totally off the mark, but is there really a market for all this Avatar sh*t?

2.78 billion at the box office says otherwise, or so believes Little Jimmy.
