Joss Whedon Says Ultron's Powers Will Be Reduced in "Avengers: Age of Ultron"

Posted: August 22nd, 2013 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Joss Whedon Says UltronSubmit Comment
In a new interview with Joss Whedon about "Avengers: Age of Ultron," the director revealed that he's planning to get rid of some of Ultron's endless powers and to instead focus on the robot's mental anguish.

"I knew right away what I wanted to do with [Ultron]," said Whedon. "He's always trying to destroy the Avengers. He's not a happy guy, which means he's an interesting guy. He's got pain. And the way that manifests is not going to be standard robot stuff. So we'll take away some of [his] powers, because at some point everybody [has] magic [powers], and I already have someone who's a witch (Scarlet Witch)."

At this point only Robert Downey Jr is set to return. And it's very likely that it will be his character, Tony Stark, who will create Ultron. In the comics, it was Ant-Man who built the villain, but it has already been confirmed that Ant-Man won't appear in "Avengers 2" and Ultron won't be part of the "Ant-Man" movie.

Maybe he wasnt created at all. Maybe it was a huge explosion in a junk yard and he just appeared.

So, he's basically a robot version of Hulk?

Origin of Ultron different from the comics?! Meh...its not a deal breaker....

My thing is that I hope Whedon makes a formidable opponent for the Avengers. That what I liked about part 1, with so many big time heroes, they STILL looked like they were over their heads!! I hope they setup a great antagonist that when one of them buys the farm, it'll be similar to The Untouchables of that dark, gritty scene in the elevator...

(smeared in blood) "Touchable"...

Here's to a sequel that will outdo the first...no small feat.

Avengers 2 you bet your sweet ass I'm there

Avengers was boring save just a few brief scenes. Cap 1 was terrible. Thor was ok. Incredible hulk wasnt half bad. And only IM 1 was good. As soon as they started concentrating on how to connect everything at the expense of character driven stories is when it went bad.

Jin Favreau was genius for seeing the writing on the wall after IM2's crazy production and jumped out of that chair faster than tanman into one to see Planes in saturday.(I kid).

knock TDK trilogy all you want, alot of reasons rightly so, but I will say there is something to keeping the story focused and not trying to apease so many masters and split screen time to so many character and gets unfocused.

Take away some of his powers? Not very Age of worthy IMO

Leave it to Whedon to take a super AI bent on world domination and give it a vagina

Off topic, but anyone interested in watching a great, eye-opening doc*mentary, check this out:

It deals with how Google, Amazon, Pinterest, EBay, etc. harvest our online info and sell it to the highest bidder, or government. The NSA is also broadly discussed. Very informative film and highly recommended.

Ultron? Really, they call a character Ultron? Reminds me of Voltron. Sounds terrifically gay.

f*cking hell, I wish the studios would at least take a little break from comic book films.

Ultron first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1968.

Voltron was created in 1984.
