Vin Diesel Explains Taking Groot Role in "Guardians of the Galaxy"

Vin Diesel Explains Taking Groot Role in "Guardians of the Galaxy"Submit Comment
After hinting for months that he'll appear in an upcoming Marvel movie, Vin Diesel finally revealed that he's in talks to play Groot, a tree-like alien, in "Guardians of the Galaxy."

In a new interview with LA Times, Diesel explained why he decided to take the role. "I'm an actor," the said. "Not everything has to be the most obvious choice. And sometimes, the best thing you can do as far as Steven Spielberg and his advice is to defy expectations. So if everybody thinks you're going to go for this one thing and you flip it entirely and go for the strangest Marvel character, it's interesting. And when something is interesting, it's inspiring."

Groot has the power to absorb wood to gain strength and recover from injuries. He can also control trees. While Groot supposedly speaks, he seems to only ever say "I am Groot."

"Guardians of the Galaxy" is directed by James Gunn and co-stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Benicio del Toro, John C. Reilly and Glenn Close. It's set to hit theaters on August 1st, 2014.

All he have to do is say "I am Groot". That's the easiest and laziest job in the world. He would be stupid for not taking it.

"Money". That's all he had to say.

Maximus the Mad, Black Bolt's brother, asserted that whenever Groot is saying his trademark "I am Groot!" he has actually been saying any number of things.
The mature form of Groot's species is robust and heavyweight, which causes the organs of acoustic generation to become stiff and inflexible.
It is this hardened nature of Groot's larynx that causes people, who are oblivious to the subtle nuances of his speech, to misinterpret him as merely repeating his name.
It has yet to be determined whether Maximus' claim is true or merely another manifestation of his madness, though Groot did genuinely seem to be assisting Maximus with highly-advanced engineering

I would almost promise that they will have him saying more than 'I Am Groot'

So tired of the F&F franchise, it's really too bad that he has sullied his career with absolute bombs here and there, hopefully he has chosen a permanent direction hence forth.

Shut the f*ck up Groot! We get it!

I'll be a little pissed if they have him say anything more than "I am Groot" casue he never had in the comics, and its kind of a known running joke that everyone on the guardians of the galaxy knows what he's talking about, but next to no one else does.

When you look at the cast, it's everyone I would go to see in their own individual pic. IDK about all together....

Pretty obvious choice actually

I think he confused the word interesting with retarded.

But I'm not surprised, he's an actor and that makes him "interesting" :)
