If it wasn't for the cinematic depiction of f*cking, killing and dealing/doing drugs, I think most Americans would choose either suicide or reading a book (just kidding) to watching movies...
Anyway, the trailer looks well made, but I had enough of this crap with Miami Vice, Savages and a hundred other films.
Why can't people make smart, engaging, entertaining and beautiful films any more without an ass load of CGI?

@Mink: "Why can't people make smart, engaging, entertaining and beautiful films any more without an ass load of CGI?"
You mean like Captain Ron? Agreed.

I was thinking more along the lines of Troll 2.

Let the Breaking Bad bandwagon begin!
Liam Neeson plays a priest who grows mushrooms to save his congregation
But Pastor Chance now has to deal with the Goomba Gang(named after the SuperMario Bros. mushroom character)
Who has become threatened and disrespected by the meager success of the Pastors 'business'
This Time Its Evangelical

Looks like it's trying too hard.

Drugs, sex, and violence usually works well for non CGI American film imo....as long as there is a good director, great actors, and a good story behind it. You really don't want the Goodfellas/Blow/True Romance days of film back Mink? Miami Vice and Savages were 2 misses in a sea of hits for the Cartel/Mob genre. This looks like it has all the ingredients for a nice throwback to what I consider the Glory Days of modern R-rated film.

Nope. I've never been much into cocaine, mobsters or gangster violence, or films thereof.
But then I'm largely not like most people, apparently, as I'm very slowly and painfully discovering...

I love Cormac McCarthy's the road and the counselor as books but I never saw them working as films but after the success of no country.. they will adapt the whole rest of their work pretty bad idea

The Counselor is an original screenplay written by Cormac McCarthy, it was never a novel beforehand.
