Directors Explain "22 Jump Street" Title, Planning Big Cameo

Directors Explain "22 Jump Street" Title, Planning Big CameoSubmit Comment
After "21 Jump Street" grossed over $200 million worldwide on a budget of $42 million, Columbia Pictures immediate greenlit a sequel. But when the title of the follow-up was revealed to be "22 Jump Street," many wondered how that was going to work since the original title refers to a specific address.

In a new interview with Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the directors explained that the new title actually has some meaning. "[The undercover program] moves across the street," said Lord. "They got more money for the Jump Street program, and they could have an even cooler office with flat screens. It's a different abandoned church, across the street from the first abandoned church, but way nicer."

Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill and Ice Cube are all set to reprise their roles. And according to Lord, the sequel will feature a cameo as big as Johnny Depp's in the first film. "We're certainly exploring options, trying to figure out what would be as fun as that," he said. "We're hoping to find a way [to include a surprise], whether it's some amazing casting or some cool story surprise."

"22 Jump Street" will take the characters to college and will hit theaters on June 13th, 2014.

Steven Williams would be the only cool cameo I could think of. I liked it when he showed up on The X-Files from time to time.

Riiiiight. They get a heap of new money, so they move from one run down abandoned church to another run down abandoned church right across the street, but with "flat screens"? Is 21 Jump Street set in Detroit?

Calling it now, The cameo will be bill Murray.
And I agree, The title is lame as f*ck.

^ You'll be jacking off to it.

Meh, one movie was enough.

That might sound like he's trying to be funny, but in America there's practically a f*cking church on every block. How about more schools for E D U C A T I N G the masses instead or dumbing them down.

As big as Johnny Depp

What a moronic statement
which tells you something about their thought process

When it comes to 21Jump Street
Nobody is bigger than Depp

unless they land Blowfish and his fat Facts Of Life wife

I taught myself calculus, Cress.

People are stupid not because there isn't enough schools/education, but because they prefer to remain stupid/ignorant.

Like they say: ignorance is bliss.

or=of in my comment

Yeah, Mink, ignorance is bliss. I'd rather be a malcontent, though.

Way off-topic, and I'm sure this will be deleted, but what is everyone's favorite ep. of SHERLOCK? I have not watched the Season 2 finale yet, but I really enjoyed "Incident in Belgravia" the most.

Make that "A Scandal in Belgravia".

Are we getting fat or skinny Jonah in the sequel? Because he was fat again in THIS IS THE END. He looks weird skinny, like a real-life Quagmire--big head and jawline on a skinny body.

I like the quagmire comparison. Hadn't thought of that lol

Because that is exactly what undercover cop units need....a big, flashy new headquarters.
