Ashton Kutcher's "The Butterfly Effect" Being RebootedPosted: July 26th, 2013 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Eric Bress, who wrote and directed Ashton Kutcher's 2004 "The Butterfly Effect," has signed on to write the script for a reboot. Several producers of the original film are also on board. A directed has yet to be hired.
In the first movie, Kutcher played a man who had the ability to travel back in time and change the present by changing what he had done in his past — but found that changing several childhood traumas created unintended consequences.
"The Butterfly Effect" grossed $96 million on a budget of only $13 million. It ended up spawning two direct-to-DVD sequels.

This is the only decent movie that The Kutch has ever been in, a reboot could be good if it has the same writer.

Just make it exactly the same but with no Ashton
So i can finally say with no reservations that i liked The Butterfly Effect
When i think of Ashton slappin his wet noodle against Milas kunis while he fingerbangs her into thinking shes getting a good d*cking
I just want to sock his mother in her stomach
TBE is the only movie where he is not annoying as sh*t

The Butterfly Effect is fine as it is. (theatrical ending)
Stop with the f*ckin remakes already...
It's not even 10 years old yet.
For the amount of money that is being thrown at remaking this they should be able to atleast come with with an original idea.

I lked the film for its story, but thought it could've been a lot better. It had a fairly unique premise, but felt the novice director never properly conveyed a keen sense of what could've made it a great film. A reboot would be good, imo.

I have a feeeling this will somehow end up as a tv series.
If so, I will lose my lunch as this will be the reincarnation of Quantum Leap.

Wait, wait ....what? I mean, WHAT?!
So, let me get this straight. They're now remaking mediocre teen thrillers from 2004 that starred Ashton Kutcher? Are you f*cking kidding me? What the hell is this?! No, really, what the f*ck is going on here!?!?!
Hey, guess what, everyone? Update: they're now remaking the 2011 hit movie In Time that starred Justin Timberlake. Because, ya know, it's what everyone's been asking for. Isn't that great? Aaahwwesome.
Excuse me while I go light Hollywood on fire.

They should reboot it into something that makes sense.
Damned kid can time-travel, but how does he do it? He looks at some image, some photograph. He time-travels with his mind, except it's not really time travel, he's simply floating backwards on his own personal conscience stream. He changes the past by changing HIS past. And yet he remembers everything. The new past the old past. Whatever.
The Butterfly Effect is one long movie on the concept of "the world revolves around me" premise.
The worst part is how the writer greatly trivializes the concept of chaos, in that by changing one initial condition, you greatly vary the end result of whatever it is your simulating, whether it's a scientific experiment or actual reality. A brilliant and interesting scientific concept reduced into a mumbling, incoherent Generation Me tale of teenage selfishness.
The acting wasn't much either, with Kutcher apparently giving it his all and still coming up two shades short of a David Hasselhoff and Tara Reid mentally upstaged by her five year-old counterpart.
Finally, the film's end: a tired, torn cliched homily on how if you love something, set it free, blah blah blah.
A movie made by a lesser Lindelhof and bow-tied by a retarded Deepak Chopra c*m Hallmark.

Just went an rewatched this and I still enjoy it. Would be awesome if they remade it and made it fit together better. Ashton Kutcher did a surprisingly good job so it'd be cool to see who they get this time around.
