"Beverly Hills Cop 4" is Once Again in Development

"Beverly Hills Cop 4" is Once Again in DevelopmentSubmit Comment
Eddie Murphy has been looking to return as Axel Foley for "Beverly Hills Cop 4." Brett Ratner (Tower Heist, X-Men 3) was in talks to direct at one point, but the movie eventually fell apart.

Then in 2011, Murphy confirmed that the fourth installment was dead and the plan was to make a "Beverly Hills Cop" TV series. Brandon T. Jackson (Tropic Thunder) was hired to play Axel's son, while Murphy was set to make an appearance in the pilot episode.

That pilot episode was eventually shot, but CBS, which fought hard to acquire the project, eventually rejected it. Sony and Paramount attempted to shop the TV series to other networks. Unfortunately, nobody was interested.

Now, Shawn Ryan, who created the pilot episode, revealed that Paramount is once again developing a "Beverly Hills Cop" movie. "Sad to report that efforts to land 'Beverly Hills Cop' pilot at another network have failed. This iteration is dead for now," he wrote on Twitter. "Good news for fans of franchise is that the pilot tested so well, it has caused Paramount to put another 'Beverly Hills Cop' movie into development."

How could it have tested so well that no other network would pick it up but Paramount wants to turn it into a movie?

And they still want to continue with the fourth sequel. I guess those idiots haven't got the clue.

A Beverly Hills Cop 4 would be the 3rd sequel, but 4th film overall.

Get the Harold&Kumar guys to make it because they did a good job with American Reunion.

BHC 4 has to be rated R to be any good, all Eddie Murphy does now is boring family-friendly bullsh*t.

The pilot tested so well, not one damned network wanted the series. Who was the test audience? Eddie Murphy's family?

Bah. Reboot this trash or let it die; same with Ghostbusters,

Leave it in the 80s where it belongs.

Reminds me of what Paulie said to Rocky about Tommy Gunn: "You should've just left him on the street where you found him."

Same goes for Murphy.

Bull sh*t they bashed the pilot. But then again release over the summer so it can fail epically

Man Eddie Murphy..what the f*ck happened to that guy. Has he even made anything watchable in the last 20 years?

Let this sh*t die already

If done correctly, I really think this could resurrect Murphy's career to a point.

But what are the odds of that happening? Probably not good.
