Guillermo Del Toro Wants His DC Comics Movie "Dark Universe" Set in "Man of Steel" WorldSubmit Comment
While promoting "Pacific Rim," director Guillermo Del Toro has been answering questions about "Dark Universe" (aka "Justice League Dark") that combines such DC Comics characters as Deadman, The Spectre, Swamp Thing, Constantine Hellblazer, Phantom Stranger, Zatanna, Zatara, Sargon and Etrigan the Demon. The goal is to make a big-budget film similar to "The Avengers" or "Justice League of America."

Del Toro confirmed that he's still working on an outline and waiting for a screenwriter to become available. The only big change since his last update has been the success of "Man of Steel," which makes Del Toro want to make "Dark Universe" part of the same world.

"The great thing about 'Dark Universe' is you have this possibility of creating a supernatural group and you can play by different rules," said the director. "But I would love to see the DC Universe become as cohesive as the Marvel film universe. So if there's any correlation, I will honor it."

It could be cool, but isn't the Hellboy universe kinda similar--a menagerie of dark characters fighting even darker foes. If it does happen, Del Toro would be the guy since he's so familar with with that world.

You stated this already minus the last line

I repeat, Del Toro would be that guy

But you conveniently deleted that post eh?

Hmmmmm. Let's see if Pacific Rim does well before you get any more money, del Toro.

Yeah, well, and I'd love to have Stacy Keibler drain my balls, but you know what they say about sh*tting in one hand and wishing in the other.

Not you cress I agree with your post and regarding my second post I could be wrong I may have read that two days ago somewhere else

But the headline and news story dont go together with del Toro's statement.

Guillermo del Toro didnt state a word about Man of Steel. The article was posted based on big assumptions :S

@Serpico: it's true del Toro didn't name Man of Steel specifically, but then Man of Steel IS the DC universe at this point because it's all the film DC has at this point, so much that Green Lantern is virtually disavowed and they're talking about rebooting Batman.

@Biz: thanks for giving my nightly fantasies hope.

GDT would be implored to work this into a cinematic DCU. WB can't sweat losses.

I would prefer that future installments of Man of Steel and other planned DC heroes be made to fit Del Toro's version of the DC universe, not the other way around.

By saying he would want it to be in the same world as the Justice League is basically spreading his ass cheeks to be f*cked by DC. His creative vision will be suffocated by things that he is and isn't allowed to do to keep it all as similar as possible.

Saying that, the way the DC films are being "Nolaned" up Del Toro might be the perfect guy for the dark and depressing universe they're creating....

Why would he want that? Everyone in the Man of Steel world is a f*cking idiot.
