"The Bible" Mini-Series to Get a Sequel on NBC

"The Bible" Mini-Series to Get a Sequel on NBCSubmit Comment
"The Bible" mini-series was a huge hit for The History Channel on both TV and DVD. And now NBC has re-teamed with producer Mark Burnett ("The Voice," "Celebrity Apprentice") to bring a sequel to the mini-series to the network.

The new mini-series is tentatively called "A.D.: Beyond the Bible" and will examine the events after "The Bible." "[We] knew that the story was far from over after Christ's Crucifixion," said NBC. "In fact, what happened in the aftermath - which is essentially the beginning of Christianity - is utterly fascinating. We look forward to making this an enormous television event on NBC."

The new miniseries begins in the dark days after Jesus' betrayal and death. A perfect storm brews in the Holy Land, fueled by social injustice, Roman military oppression and religious unrest. High priests and the Herod dynasty vie for power. Zealot revolutionaries turn to violence to regain what they believe is their promised land. And in the face of terrible odds and brutal persecution, the small band of Jesus' disciples stand against the combined might of Rome and their own local authorities.

In a generation of rebellion, war, famine, and carnage, who can they trust? Who should they fear? Will tomorrow bring a violent death? For many, it does... but others survive, and as the storm around them breaks, the fate of Israel, of Rome and of their faith is decided.

If NBC puts zombies in this thing, they would have a monster hit.
Oh, wait. Jesus WAS the original zombie.
Oh, wait. He never existed.

I was wondering when someone will finish the series. After the crucifixion, the history channel rushed the rest of it. I can't wait to watch the rest of it. As a Christian I have great respect for the Bible and the holy word. You never stop learning.

When the hell is the Bhagavad Gita gonna get a mini series, huh? Com'on Hollywood, diversify.

^^If you knew sh*t about the Bhagavad Gita, you'd know two things: a) it doesn't have quite the historical narrative of the Bible, and b) The US isn't India, nor do we have enough Indians to justify such a series.

In fact, had you read the very first line in the article, you'd know b to be immediately true.

Kids these days.

The original sequel to the bible was called The New Testament. It had a bigger budget, better special effects, and a single more likeable protagonist (Jesus Christ).

speaking of the Bhagavad gita - you should check this mini series out if you haven't seen it yet:

"The original sequel to the bible was called The New Testament."

Actually, the New testament is the sequel to the Old Testament, aka The Tanakh (roughly). The Bible is both "films" together.

Bull. NBC you liberal pool of sc*m. You look forward to making a an enormous money pile. That's the only reason you've taken interest in running a christian based series.
