Universal Pictures just unveiled the trailer for its upcoming "Ride Along" action comedy, starring Kevin Hart and Ice Cube. The new movie is directed by Tim Story (Fantastic Four, Think Like a Man) and is set to hit theaters on January 17th, 2014. Check out the trailer below.
Plot: For the past two years, high-school security guard Ben (Hart) has been trying to show decorated APD detective James (Cube) that he's more than just a video game junkie who's unworthy of James' sister, Angela (Tika Sumpter). When Ben finally gets accepted into the academy, he thinks he's earned the seasoned policemanís respect and asks for his blessing to marry Angela.
Knowing that a ride along will demonstrate if Ben has what it takes to take care of his sister, James invites him on a shift designed to scare the hell out of the trainee. But when the wild night leads them to the most notorious criminal in the city, James will find that his new partner's rapid-fire mouth is just as dangerous as the bullets speeding at it.
Kevin Hart is a funny guy and this looks alright.
But nothing will surpass Lethal Weapon, the best buddy cop movie. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang was close but that was the same guy, Shane Black. I guess I'm saying is Shane Black is awesome.
In other words, the illegitimate love child of Bad Boys 21 Jump Street.
Must be easy to make movies these days. Just print out a few hundred random IMDb titles, toss them into a fishbowl, swirl the f*cker around, and draw two or three sequentially; concatenate their premises and presto, a "new" franchise.
