Nicolas Winding Refn Reveals Bizarre Plan for "Valhalla Rising" Sequel

Nicolas Winding Refn Reveals Bizarre Plan for "Valhalla Rising" SequelSubmit Comment
Between making "Bronson" and "Drive," director Nicolas Winding Refn made a lesser-known movie, called "Valhalla Rising," starring Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale) as a warrior in the early Viking era.

While promoting his latest film "Only God Forgives," Refn said that he's had talks with Mikkelsen about a sequel to "Valhalla Rising." "[We've] talked about revisiting the character from 'Valhalla Rising,'" he revealed. "I had this idea of Mads Mikkelsen [going] back to the origins of this character. But make the movie in Tokyo."

Refn went on to say that this will be present-day Tokyo. When asked how this is possible (since first movie takes place in 1,000 AD), the director replied: "[The sequel is] about the future."

In other words, the character will somehow travel over 1,000 years into the future to explore his own origins. And this will be a sequel.

Someone should tell Refn that this is basically Highlander.

Mads Mikkelsen in one thread, Laurence Fishburne in another. Where's Hugh Dancy news for the HANNIBAL trifecta?

Valhalla rising was dreadful, I tried to watch it on numerous occasions, it wasnt until someone told me that it never gets better that I gave up on it. Only the most pretentious c*nts in the world liked that movie.

In an odd way, that does make sense. During the duration of "VR" they insinuate the presence of extra terrestrials. I would go into more details, but I don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen it. But, if he found his way to present Tokyo because of E.T.'s, that would kind of explain the odd plot, in a way.

Refn should stop huffing acetone. It's not doing him any good.

I wonder if this viking will run into those time-traveling turkeys, lol

Again, it's that Mad Libs approach to coming up with a plot. Just stupid.

I hope he knows that Mikkelsens character dies at the end of Valhalla.

Hey, brigulon, why don't you show everyone how smart and artistic you are by defending that piece of sh*t movie. And by "smart and artistic,"said I do mean "pretentious c*nt."

Mikkelsen is an amazing actor but honestly Valhalla Rising was just a pretentious boring-as-f*ck piece of sh*t.

Watching it was like using tar for lubricant.
