Dwayne Johnson in Talks for "Terminator 5"

Dwayne Johnson in Talks for "Terminator 5"Submit Comment
Back when Arnold Schwarzenegger was set to become the governor of California, he decided that Dwayne Johnson would be the perfect replacement for him in Hollywood. And while Johnson became a huge action star, he never reached the kind of popularity that Schwarzenegger had at the peak of his career.

Schwarzenegger already confirmed that he'll be returning to play the terminator in "Terminator 5." But now comes word that producers are courting Johnson to join the Schwarzenegger in the film. Johnson has yet to sign on, but meetings are taking place.

At this point, all we know is that Paramount Pictures recently signed on to distribute "Terminator 5" and that the goal is to make two or three new installments before rights to the franchise revert back to James Cameron.

When the f*ck did they make a third and fourth Terminator?
Deaft0ne writes:

@mink

The 3rd one had the chick Terminator and 4 had Christian Bale and your all-time favorite thespian, Sam Worthington as a Terminator that thinks he can act.

You know what, Johnson and "the Schwarzenegger" (as the article refers to him) co-starring in a movie together for the first time might actually be more of a box office draw at this point than the Terminator property itself.

Did the awful 3rd and 4th Terminator films (and despite poor Minkowski's fanon discontinuity, sorry, both movies DO exist, unfortunately) damage the property that much? Maybe...

Incredibly, Schwarzenegger may not play the role of a machine in the next film, but a potentially heroic human figure in or close to the Connor family. One theory is that Schwarzenegger's remarkable ability to protect the Connor family in the 1940s or 1950s with antiquated weaponry by today's standards ultimately inspired the machines to develop a terminator in his likeness that was eventually sent to 1984 when Sarah Connor was first targeted for termination.

^^Interesting theory, but why the f*ck did Skynet take a 90 year old man and churn out a 20 year old? Why not just replace the old protector Arnie with a Terminator look-alike? Use that to kill Connor in the future and then send it back into the past to kill Sarah. Not like a a really old looking Terminator would function any differently than a young-looking one because it's the same f*cking endoskeleton underneath.

And for that matter, where are the other Terminators, because I know Skynet didn't churn out a billion Arnie clones.

The whole thing has gotten WAY out of hand; the story was clean and simple with the first film, temporally convoluted by the second, and now, with the fourth and a fifth on the horizon, the franchise has clearly entered "pooch screw" territory.

I am shocked they have not totally rebooted the whole franchise by now. Trying to do badly written sequels and prequels has just made the whole story a massive messy turd. If the rights revert back to cameron i wonder if he will wash his hands over the other movies and pick up where T2 left off.

You should see Quinto in season 4 of 24. He plays the stereotypical homosexual. Talks in a lispy, soft feminine voice, has a strong connection to his sister, hates women in general, and throws tantrums.

And then there's his acting.
