Zack Snyder Says Superman Will Leave America in "Man of Steel 2"

Zack Snyder Says Superman Will Leave America in "Man of Steel 2"Submit Comment
"Man of Steel" made sure to point out that Superman is American and he's always ready to protect his country. But General Zod wasn't planning to attack America, in fact, he recorded his message in several languages for different countries.

In a new interview with Zack Snyder, the director explained that "Man of Steel" can't remain a solely American hero forever. "I was really interested in – and maybe it's because Barack Obama is president now – it's okay for Superman to be American," he explained.

Snyder continued: "He's quintessentially an American creature and creation. [But] that was always a thing that would be in the evolution of Superman. He has no choice but to become global. That literally has to happen [in the sequel]."

In other words, had Bush still been in office, Snyder would have been ashamed to call Superman American.

Or in even more words, America to Snyder isn't our history or people, or culture, it's what party is in power at the moment.

Actually, there is no way Superman can "literally" become global unless you mean to say he becomes the earth itself. Now maybe you mean he has to act all over the globe at once, and that makes sense except for the fact he can barely defend Metropolis much less the entire world. Regardless, the only reason Superman must become global, according to your words, is because DC and WB need to sell tickets all over the planet.

Anyway, I hate Hollywood, and I despise the people who work therein. I hate their politics and their fervent religious need to convert people and express their ideology the way Jehovah's Witnesses feel the need to shove their tin god down your throat at eight o'clock in the morning on a Saturday.

Lol, boogiel, I completely forgot about that scene.

If they were really ballsy they'd to an entire sequel that takes place inside a Walmart in Petersburg, Illinois.

Come to think of it, there is in fact a Metropolis, Illinois as well. Huh.

I see an oportunity for Warner here, they can have a flashback from TDKR where Bruce Wayne is out of the pit with no money or anykind of help and suddenly Superman gets there and give him a lift to Gotham. And then superman offers him help to what Batman says: Na, I got this! But you can help me with this gasoline fueled logo that I'm trying to get done but I obviously won't be able to finish because my back hurts a little.
And voalá! Franchises linked, problem solved, profit.
