Vin Diesel Unveils "Riddick" Comic-Con PosterSubmit Comment
In a new post on his official Facebook page, Vin Diesel said that he hasn't attended the San Diego Comic-Con in over a decade, which is why he's excited about going to the event next month to promote "Riddick." Along with the post, he unveiled a new "Riddick" poster that will be on display at Comic-Con. Check it out below.

Plot: Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick (Diesel) fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge.

The new movie is directed by David Twohy (The Chronicles of Riddick, Pitch Black) and is set to hit IMAX and conventional theaters on September 6th.

Way, way better than the last banner or poster or whatever it was, but I must say, that doesn't really look like Diesel, and why is he all red on planet that apparently is awash in darkness?

No sh*t. And to think I've always thought Deisel would definitely make a good T-600, what with all his rubbery skin.

looks more like a video game poster.

Is this movie not basically Pitch Black 2? That was my impression from what I have seen from the previous trailers...basically limited daylight scenes and large stretches of darkness wherein monsters start running amok killing people...

I still don't see where the blood red coloring comes in...

Nice poster

@mink

they had to make it pitch black 2 , Chronicles of Ridd*ck's exaggerated budget made it flop so they had to go back to basics not to mention the first one was more likable by critics and viewers.

@mink
I am just going to assume the red means he will be drenched in blood/violence in the darkness or something like that.

@Rambo
It makes sense. I don't think Ridd*ck is suppose to be part of a big epic film. Intimate films are more his style. Close quarters and stuff like that. Super happy Katee Sackhoff is in this. She is the definition of badass for a woman to me.

^^Yeah I don't think there was much they could do with the story after Chronicles, what with Deisel anointment as king of the Necromongers.

"I am just going to assume the red means he will be drenched in blood/violence in the darkness or something like that."

Yeah, that was my first and obvious thought, but then I had to ask myself two questions: one, this is Ridd*ck, not Carrie, Right? And two, neither of the first films, which were were pretty goddamned violent, ever took the visually hyperbolic route by drenching Deisiel's character in blood. Not even Conan or a f*cking Eli Roth films has every gone that far. The entire image is painted in red. Why?

Color has significance, and one of the first things every artist is taught is to choose your colors carefully. Hence, one has to wonder what's the significance of the color red, and if there's no connection to the film's actual content, why did the artist go that route? Did he just think Ridd*ck, then think violence, then think blood, thus coloring his entire opus in red, and if so, could they perhaps have chosen a less amateurish and immature artist?

Phew. I have to go to great lengths to explain every one of commenta on here whereas everyone else can make asinine after asinine post without nary a reproach. Gets old.

Or maybe it's just period blood from a whale's vagina.
