"Man of Steel 2" is Moving Forward, Director Zack Snyder to Return

"Man of Steel 2" is Moving Forward, Director Zack Snyder to ReturnSubmit Comment
"Man of Steel" has yet to hit theaters, but early numbers show that it will gross at least $100 million domestically during its opening weekend. Despite stating that it will wait to see how the movie performs, Warner Bros has already got to work on the sequel.

Deadline has learned that Zack Snyder will return to direct, David Goyer will return to write, and Henry Cavill will return to star in "Man of Steel 2." Christopher Nolan has yet to sign on, since he's busy with other projects, but he'll likely return to produce, in a more limited capacity.

Warner Bros wants "Man of Steel" to become a huge hit, but not because it needs the money. A successful film will mean billions of dollars in merchandise and give the studio an opportunity to proceed with its "Justice League" plan. Plus, "Man of Steel" has already earned its budget back thanks to tax incentives and product placement.

That's not a shocker at all athough I have to say, WB is jumping the gun a bit. Better not count the chick before it's hatched. I think rotten tomatoes gave it 3 stars.

How much was Nolan involved in this first one? I think he just put his name on it and told Snyder to "copy Batman begins formula and try not to make the mistakes I did in Rises."

On track to $100 mil domestic. So..... $75 mil less than Iron Man 3.

Well now that they have the financing down

There should be no excuse for exceptional DC movies

Is that headline pic from the Carls Jr. commercial?

It won't be a huge hit because it's a new franchise - Batman Begins didn't make a lot of money also but it's sequels did.

The Dark Knight made as much as it did because old Heath croaking raised the public's consciousness through media sensation. Ledger's death gave the movie a noticeable BO bump. TDKR made as much as the successor to that movie.

As for the news, come on, really? No, I thought for sure WB would move on with a M. Night Wonder Woman movie next.

Well no sh*t. No major Hollywood studio NEEDS the money. But that doesn't stop them from WANTING to make a f*ck-load more whenever possible.
