M. Night Shyamalan Secretly Wrote a Romantic Comedy in 1999, But Which One?Submit Comment
After several hits in a row, M Night Shyamalan's credibility has pretty vanished due to such disappointments as "Lady in the Water," "The Happening," "The Last Airbender" and "After Earth."

And now that he's considering returning to the projects that made him a top director in Hollywood, like a sequel to "Unbreakable," Shyamalan also spoke about movies that he wrote before "The Sixth Sense."

Most people don't know that he wrote "Stuart Little" because he was hired as a ghostwriter, a person who does the work but the credit goes to someone else. But there was another movie that he wrote that's rarely associated with him. "I ghost-wrote a movie the same year [as 'The Sixth Sense'], but I don't know if I want to tell you which movie I ghost-wrote," he laughed, then quickly stating: "I ghost-wrote the movie 'She's All That.'"

For those who aren't familiar with the movie, "She's All That" stars Rachel Leigh Cook as a nerd who is invited to the prom by Freddie Prinze Jr, after his buddy (Paul Walker) dares him. The big twist was that when the glasses came off, Cook was actually attractive.

Two years later, "She's All That" was spoofed by "Not Another Teen Movie" that starred an unknown actor, Chris Evans (Captain America).

And 'Not another Teen Movie' is one of very few spoof Comedies that I found hilarious.

M. Night should write a tragic farce and call it "My Life".

Someone else probably "ghost" wrote his first successful films, I'm guessing Darren Aronofsky.

So shamalamadingdong apparently ALWAYS took tired old tropes and tried to pass them off as original ideas. No surprise there.

I feel that he has tried to break out of the norm in some of his writing/movies. I liked the Zen ideal in After Earth, but most people want a certain type of movie.

Reminds me the way people reacted to The Gray, a movie that had several layers to it.

I watched the first 10 minutes of AFTER EARTH. It really started out terrible. Poorly directed opening and Jaden Smith's voiceover and acting was terrible. What the f*ck has happened to this guy? He made some good films in the beginning of his career.

I love how even when a story has no connection to a superhero movie, Alex finds a way.

I losed the track after the village, didnīt cared anymore, also when surface info that he sort of stoled material from other authors.

Oh, man, so now I understand.

And about that sequel, it would have more credibility if sh*tmalan hadnīt f*ck it all up with his more recent flicks.

I liked Jacobīs Ladder very much. Great piece of film. A rare addition to the Hollywood Burger King Industries.

Not Another Teen Movie is a highly underrated film. Maybe the last great spoof film ever made.
