Quicksilver to Appear in "The Avengers 2" and "X-Men: Days of Future Past," Marvel and Fox Not Happy

Quicksilver to Appear in "The Avengers 2" and "X-Men: Days of Future Past," Marvel and Fox Not HappySubmit Comment
Joss Whedon recently revealed that the brother/sister team of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch will appear in "The Avengers 2." The problem is that 20th Century Fox also owns the rights to the characters.

"There's a specific arrangement with those two characters that would allow us to use them with 'Avengers,' but not discuss or reference their mutant or Magneto-related lineage," Marvel head Kevin Feige previously stated. "They can use them as mutants and as Magneto's relatives, but cannot have anything to do with 'The Avengers.'"

Now comes word directly from director Bryan Singer that Evan Peters ("American Horror Story") has been cast as Magneto's son, Pietro Maximoff (aka Quicksilver) in Fox's "X-Men: Days of Future Past." Singer wrote on Twitter: "Before he was an Avenger, he was just a REALLY fast kid. Thrilled to say Evan Peters is joining 'X-Men: Days Of Future Past' as Quicksilver."

According to Hitfix, this is not a collaboration between Marvel and Fox. The site explained: "This is not a situation where the two different companies are working together to try and create a sense of a larger shared world. In fact, if either of them could get the other to back off, they would. Bryan Singer has designed a sequence that he feels only works with Quicksilver, and Joss Whedon feels that there is a pressing reason for Quicksilver to show up in 'The Avengers 2.' And so what we're going to get [is] two totally different versions of one character."

Fox recently attempted to negotiate with Marvel in order to keep the rights to Daredevil. In the end, the character reverted back to Marvel, and Fox may now be attempting to get a little revenge. It's obvious that Whedon has big plans for Quicksilver, while Fox will likely use the character in just one action sequence.

Two Quicksilvers for Marvel, zero Flash movies for DC.

Brilliant job, DC.

This might just be the ultimate non-story of all time.

Just two words: Lawsuit, bitchezzz.
minkowski writes:

What Deaft0ne said. Non-story. They both have rights to Quicksilver, but they can only use the character is limited, specific ways. That's it. Everything else is bored f*ckheads making a windstorm out of a fart and Alex providing an echo chamber.

If that is the extent to which they can develop the character ... why choose them , it seems a waste of a good story arc.

Fox can suck it. Marvel Studios is f*ckING MARVEL. Take your billions and shove it up your ass.
Jaros428 writes:

Really, why don't they just work together and make a nice shiney penny that they can share? (I know the answer to that)
KillerCOck writes:

Nothing good can from Singer. This is a waste on his part.
GreenLensman writes:

The only reason they are sh*tting bricks over quicksilver is because it is so easy to CG someone who runs (or flies) really fast, these days...and cheap CGI like that will always come first over a well thought out story line. I find quicksilver to be a fascinating character but at the same time I know he just isn't important enough to be in the sequel to Avengers and unless they really ramp up his and scarlet witch's abilites, this sequel is going to be a huge let down, personally..of course it will still make a billion $ profit.

This was bound to happen... two big studios running the Marvel Universe...two major popular franchises...

What I don't understand what everyone is bitchin' about (if they actually are and this ain't any bullsh*t sensationalism news). I get the feeling that Whedon & Singer could sit down and work this out to both studio's advantages.

Anyway, it has been done before. Micheal Keaton played the FBI/ATF agent Ray Nicollette in both Elmore Leonard's OUT OF SIGHT and Tarantino-adapted JACKIE BROWN (only thing Tarantino has adapted from Leonard)...

Both studios could put down their egos & compromise with Marvel getting a talented unknown (cheap bastards) and Fox not f*cking this up. It could be done...

Watching Whedons' Astonishing X-Men
Not a fan of the animation(especially powers are being used) and The Danger Room murdering mutants??

Still only a few episodes deep but those are my thoughts so far.
Hopefully for my sake, it'll redeem itself

Phoenix Fire writes:
on May 24th, 2013 at 12:03:04 PM

Not only is it FOX's fault for not immediately making it public that Quicksilver was in the movie, It's also easier for FOX to clean up. Quicksilver isn't the only fast mutant. They even had a fast female mutant in The Last Stand. FOX is just being cry babies.
Phoenix Fire writes:
on May 24th, 2013 at 12:10:54 PM

Mink,

I like how Marvel movie people go to sabotage DC films:

Halie Berry-first Storm then bombed Catwoman then back to Storm.

Bryan Singer-first X-men then bombed Superman Returns then back to X-men.

Ryan Reynolds-first Deadpool then bombed Green Lantern and still attached to do a Deadpool movie.

Conspiracy theory? Lol
Phoenix Fire writes:

Mink,

DC lost my respect when they were talking about putting Jack Black as Green Lantern. No joke. You know their ideas suck when they need to try to cast funny people to fix it. Jack Black would have happened if their wasn't a fan backlash like there was with the Wonder Woman TV series. Ryan Reynolds was initially in talks for Flash.

You're right Mink. DC=Fail
Janus writes:
on May 24th, 2013 at 2:51:35 PM

Nonetheless, Fox movies using Marvel heroes are always co-produced by Marvel, so it is some kind of collaboration.
Janus writes:
on May 24th, 2013 at 2:57:14 PM

@boogiel: Why should there be a lawsuit? Both are legally allowed to use the character.
@Phoenix Fire: Singer's first X-Men did not bomb. All X-Men movies were a commercial success, even the hated Ratner version in X3.
Malcontent writes:

@ Minkowski

DC = Fail

I guess the Multibillion dollar Batman franchise and what is likely to be a huge Superman win have no bearing?

If I could, I would put a fishhook through my c*ck, drag it through a petri dish with AIDS, then shoot you in the face and f*ck the bullet hole. f*cking tool.
Phoenix Fire writes:
on May 24th, 2013 at 7:16:23 PM

@Janus,

I'm saying they make Marvel films, good or not, then go bomb DC films. Then they return to Marvel.
minkowski writes:
on May 25th, 2013 at 12:05:30 AM

@Pheonix Fire: Brilliant theory, actually when you compared Berry in X-Men to Halle Berry in Catwoman you terrifically emphasized the gross ineptitude of WB/DC. I mean what the f*ck were they thinking with Catwoman!? And as for Jack Black doing GL, I refuse to believe that's true just because the idea is so damned stupid it just does not compute.
minkowski writes:
on May 25th, 2013 at 12:07:47 AM

@"malcontent": I get it. Minkowski isn't well-liked, and you're so pathetic personality wise all you can do is piggyback on my infamy in order to get perhaps a laugh from the crowd at my expense by telling godawfully terrible jokes. Well, keep it up, dude, because from what I can tell it's the entire pinnacle of your capabilities.
minkowski writes:

phoenix, not pheonix
Phoenix Fire writes:
on May 25th, 2013 at 2:34:41 PM

"Around June 2006, Robert Smigel had completed a script of the film, which was a comedy-adventure and was to star Jack Black as Jud Plato, an original Lantern whose bravery was defined by eating brains on a TV show. However, the studio dropped the script idea due to extremely negative feedback from fans."
