Steven Spielberg Developing Live-Action "Halo" TV Series

Steven Spielberg Developing Live-Action "Halo" TV SeriesSubmit Comment
During the launch of the Xbox One video game console, Microsoft revealed that it's developing a new live-action "Halo" TV series that will be available exclusively through Xbox Live. Steven Spielberg will produce the series.

The show's production quality is said to be similar to the level of HBO's "Game of Thrones." Unfortunately, the company isn't in a hurry to jump into development. "For us, it's about taking the necessary time to produce the right shows," said Microsoft.

"Halo" has already been adapted into a live-action series before, called "Halo Forward Unto Dawn," which was released as a web series on Machinima and was times with the launch of last year's "Halo 4."

"The show's production quality is said to be similar to the level of HBO's "Game of Thrones.""

So Master Chief goes bare-chested, gets on all fours and lets aliens mock-f*ck him? Because that's what I learned from the first episode of Game of Thrones.

Nothing but energy swords and gravity hammers.

Meh a TV series won't do it justice and they would f*ck up the movie so just let it be.

Too bad he couldn't create a live-action LINCOLN film. That thing was dead on arrival.

Darn, I was hoping for a TV show about the game PONG.

Watched that live action halo movie recently, not too shabby. If Farscape could pull off what it did on its budget, then this could be good.

You know when I recently played "Halo 4" I was expecting a very lame continuation to the series but it turns out that the series, at least in my opinion, continues to be well written. However, if turned into a tv series, it would need to be a gritty war series and not, basically, Defiance. I mean blood-soaked war scenes combined with epic backdrops and a borderline realistic Master Chief who is stronger and faster but not ridiculous "Hulk jumping 3 miles in a direction with a single leap". Also you would need to,at least, keep the voice actor of the character even if, physically, someone else plays the role.

Anyone else feel this is somewhat going full circle since Spielberg was one of the original directors up for making a "Halo" movie?

Do they actually mean that the production budget is going to be similar to Games of Thrones? I agree that saying just production "quality" is kinda unclear.

Ill give this a shot. Speilberg also oversees the show Falling Skies which is a decent summer show. That show wont even compare to the budget halo will get either. The special effects are mostly movie quality in that show

You know what would make an excellent tv series?

Alan Wake.

It already screams to be adapted (having literally been told in an episodic format), unlike Halo, which would better suit as a film.
RickyGabrielBird writes:

Alan Wake would make a fantastic TV series.

The Halo live-action series 'Forward Unto Dawn' was excellent and showed what could be achieved, even on a small budget.
