Vin Diesel Says "Fast and Furious 7" Will Head in Different Direction

Vin Diesel Says "Fast and Furious 7" Will Head in Different DirectionSubmit Comment
When director Justin Lin was working on "Fast and Furious 6," the plan was to shoot the sixth and the seventh installments at the same time. Eventually that didn't happen and we may now know why.

According to Vin Diesel, "Fast and Furious 6" wrapped up the story told in the fourth and fifth films. "Fast and Furious 7" will head in a completely different direction. "'7' is the beginning of the next trilogy in the story," he explained. "The direction of 7, 8 and 9 is clear."

"Fast and Furious" became a massive franchise for Universal Pictures, which recently decided to have a new film in theaters each summer. Because "Fast and Furious 7" production would have to be rushed, Lin dropped out, but was quickly replaced with James Wan (Saw, Insidious).

Meanwhile, "Fast and Furious 6" is set to be released in theaters on May 24th and early numbers show that the film will be another huge hit.

different direction? does this mean that we won't see Jason Statham in the end credits scene playing the brother of the bad guy from Fast 6, vowing revenge? WTF?

which means he (Statham) won't be in Fast 7?

I apologize, I should have finished question, sorry, I am new here

He was actually really good in pain and gain @ipman

I'm guessing Wan will bring a simpler movie...basic plot, less outrageous action, and probably more grit, IMO.

Looney Tunes-style series with them running from Statham, who uses ACME stuff to catch them?

Well considering 5 and 6 happened before Han's death in Tokyo Drift, it makes sense for them to wrap up this story line and then pursue what happens with Dom in Japan meeting up with Lucas Black's character.
Honestly, I've abandoned any shred of hope in getting even minimum credibility from this series. I guess that's why I'm enjoying it now more than ever. Lowered expectations....

@bunny x

Much like L O S T, I think the writers just decided to bullsh*t and make things up as they go along by setting 4-6 after 2 but before 3. This only started when they got Mark Vincent to come back to the franchise.

I seriously doubt this was ever the original plan because Universal probably saw this series devolving into sh*tty direct to dvd sequels after Tokyo Drift. The surprise success of the 4th film caused them to change that, even though it's set after the 2nd movie.
