Warner Bros Making Big-Budget "Dungeons and Dragons" MovieSubmit Comment
Warner Bros has acquired film rights to the "Dungeons and Dragons" property, the role-playing fantasy game. The studio is already far along in the development and will be using a script by David Johnson (Wrath of the Titans).

The plan is to create a world similar to "Game of Thrones" and "The Hobbit," which will require a big budget and lots of effect to truly take advantage of the property that has generated over $1 billion in book and merchandise sales. Warner Bros is currently searching for a director and treating the film as a top priority.

Warner Bros previously made a "Dungeons and Dragons" movie back in 2000, starring Jeremy Irons and Marlon Wayans. The film only grossed $34 million worldwide on a $45 million budget.

This has Zach Snyder written all over it, because no one does hollow but aesthetically overwhelming bullsh*t like him.

Lol what. Who thought "Dungeons and Dragons" and "Marlon Wayans" would have made any money

Hey everybody. Hope all is well.

With so many different campaign settings, monsters, magic, and a near infinite supply of character types and scenarios....its hard to understand how they could f*ck this up. But they probably will. As a longtime player I've waited for a good film adaption but nothing yet has been good. Not even really close to D&D.

Take bets that it'll be a goddamned trilogy? Anyone?

The cartoon was more D&D than that movie was. Kinda sad.

Go Vancouver.

I guess they need to fill a void since harry potter and batman have ended. They better not f*ck this up.

"Lol what. Who thought "Dungeons and Dragons" and "Marlon Wayans" would have made any money"

Probably the same strain of geniuses who thought Marlan Wayans belonged in a GI JOE movie...

if you got the guy who wrote clash of the titans flicks, its a fail already

This is stupid. It will either fail miserably or simply slip away into mediocrity, forgotten within a yearís time after its release (ŗ la Snow White and the Huntsman). Why? Because thereís no f*cking story! Tolkienís world has story. Game of Thrones has story. D&D has nothing. Itís just a role playing template for generic fantasy adventure setting. Donít get me wrong, I appreciate the game -- even though I was more into MERP -- but thereís nothing there to adapt to the big screen that would be stand out from what weíve already seen in recent years.
