JJ Abrams Plans to Shoot "Star Wars: Episode VII" Early Next YearSubmit Comment
Bryan Burk (pictured, left), the long-time producer for JJ Abrams and co-founder of Bad Robot production company, will produce "Star Wars: Episode VII." And in a new interview, he spoke about when the new film will begin shooting.

"We're progressing on a schedule to hopefully begin next year, or the beginning of next year," he said. "The location is still floating around in the air, all depending on script and a whole bunch of other issues. When we feel like the script is really coming together and schedules are all working and pieces line up, we'll prowl ahead."

If Abrams actually starts filming early next year, then Disney may be able to release the film during the Summer of 2015, as originally announced.

If Snyder and Abrams ever make a movie together, you'll have to wear BluBlockers to see it.

Lol mink!!!

Anyway, no need to rush things. Carrie Fisher needs as much time as possible for the lap band and plastic surgeries to get her film ready again. The weed is keeping Harrison Ford young even if its destroying his voice. Han Solo might sound like Jaba the Hut before all is said and done but he'll still be the coolest guy in the galaxy. Chewbacca ain't getting any younger but then again he's not exactly getting any older now is he.

Bottom line take the time to make this series special JJ. Don't pull a Lucus and make it just for the merchandising profits.

just give me 2 hours of light sabre fighting please - Darth bane - and no cheesy acting - jar jars head on a bastard platter - and decent actors who dont act wooden on screen

With hundreds of lightsabers, the lens flare possibilities are endless!

I heard JJ on the radio yesterday he sounded like an excited 14 year old boy. How he's ended up with two huge franchises like this is beyond me. It's not like he's proved himself as a worthy director he just knows how to make things go boom and his obvious ADHD means none of his films ever stop for a breather. I'm seeing Star Trek tomorrow so I guess I'll have a better Idea of his so called talent then...

So if the schedule holds for star wars then its still possible jj can swing back and finish his trek trilogy in the standard 3 year window. Creatively he will have to let go somewhat compared to the first 2. He will only have so much time to shoot it when disney starts production on episode 8.

Id say its still unlikely he goes back tibdirect another trek. But if his will to complete the trilogy combined with how much they will offer to pay him outweighs his need to sleep and have time off its technicly possible I guess

@cinema. Dont forget hes also running the missiin impossible franchise these days as well with cruise. Directed 3 and been overseeing 3, 4, and now 5 as well

@SACdaddy

Make no mistake, Star Wars is now being made for merchandising profits far more than ever before. With Lucas they were independent films. A lot of people seem to forget that, or never realized it to begin with -- and what it actually means. Now, Star Wars truly IS a corporate product first and foremost.

@superflywill.

No cheesy acting = no Star Wars. Everyone acts like the OT was goddamn Shakespeare or something. It wasn't. They were always intentional B-movies.
