Tom Cruise Signs On for "Mission: Impossible 5"

Tom Cruise Signs On for "Mission: Impossible 5"Submit Comment
"Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" hit theaters in 2011 and went on to gross almost $700 million worldwide, which is much higher than the three previous installments and $300 million more than the last film. Plus, "Ghost Protocol" has an impressive 93% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes.

This is why it's not surprising that Paramount Pictures is moving forward with a fifth installment. While very little is known about the new film, Deadline has learned that Tom Cruise just signed on to reprise the role of Ethan Hunt.

"Ghost Protocol" was directed by Brad Bird, who is now busy with Disney's "Tomorrowland." It's believed that Christopher McQuarrie (Jack Reacher) will be offered the job. Stay tuned.

Bring Ving Rhames back for this one.

So, all the hype about renner taking over is confirmed to be a complete bullsh*t.

Bring Ving Rhames character back this time but have Don Cheadle play him.
Ip_man writes:

and RDJ activating him with remote control

@boogiel
They were talking like that with the Bourne series too. Renner must not like the disappointment he has been getting lately.
Ip_man writes:

@boogiel

because we all saw how great he was in 'bourne legacy' as the lead...

No mink, Terence Howard!

The last one did have some great filming locations, lets hope films keep this trend.

minkowski writes:

@Rambo: Sherlock (BBC) is the best show I've seen in ages, better than even Dexter's first and second season. Brilliant, actually.
Ip_man writes:

@mink

yep,and I like it that the seasons are so short - instead of long seasons with sh*tty filler episodes.
minkowski writes:
on May 7th, 2013 at 12:52:59 AM

@Rambo: Oh, by the way, something I forgot to mention: Doyle's original Sherlock Holmes was a bit of a cocaine sniffer, so RDJ was quite appropriate for the role in at least one way.
CelluloidMan writes:

Another movie? Tom Cruise is coming out with movie after movie...like he's trying to prove something.

He's gonna get over exposed & less people are gonna go see him. He's cutting close as is...

Or does he have too many bills (cough) *alimony* (cough) to take care of...?
Ip_man writes:

@mink

fair enough - still i prefer much more benedict c*mberbatch over RDJ at least in this role.

^lol, they do look like the sh*t from 2001.

@Rambo: agreed. c*mberbatch is better.

Ghost of Perdition, same premonitions, so clear.

Never watched 1 or 2 but did watch 3 and I loved the fourth, Very well done. I could see this Franchise going on for a long time. Perhaps taking the way of the bond movies with different actors.

I could see that happening here way more then the Iron man Franchise
SACdaddy writes:

Nice to see the series continue. The last film wasn't my favorite but it still hit all the MI marks and was decent entertainment. This franchise is basically America's Bond so I can see it going on for a while with or without Cruise. It has the advantage of being a heist film and a "spy" film so as long as there is impossible sh*t to break in to and international bad guys to foil the series show must go on. Eventually Tom will pass the torch but not to some elf looking punk who literally isn't big enough to fill
SACdaddy writes:

f*cking smart phones.
SACdaddy writes:

I wish Tom and his IM crew could find a way to install an edit button on this site or at least get Putzman fired.

Btw, Putzman's review of Oblivion was an absolute joke!!! Dude gave a completely mediocre film like an 8 or 9/10.
Bunny X writes:

definitely Renner's underwhelming performances are behind this decision. There's no way he's taking over for Cruise. Hell, they might as well recast Hawkeye while they're at it.
Patrick Bateman writes:

The tom cruise contract for any film (short man syndrome anger outlet) Beat up a group of men outnumbered, A long scene of just him sprinting somewhere, Him wearing goggles, Driving a vehicle like a badass
WallyDee writes:

I personally love them all, i thought Ghost Protocol was pretty goddamn awesome.

I say keep em coming as long as they are as entertaining as the previous installments.
