Dan Aykroyd Says "Ghostbusters 3" Will Shoot Next Year

Dan Aykroyd Says "Ghostbusters 3" Will Shoot Next YearSubmit Comment
Dan Aykroyd has been the biggest force in getting "Ghostbusters 3" made. Despite script problems, the studio not being very interested and Bill Murray refusing to reprise his role, Aykroyd is still very optimistic that the film will happen.

"I feel re-encouraged, re-invigorated by the [script] pages that I have seen," he recently said. "I know that we're expecting half of the screenplay to be completed very soon. [The film] should be into pre-production by the fall and be shooting by the new year."

Aykroyd went on to say that the script is based on many scientific theories that will "open another dimension and have something horrible come through."

He concluded: "I've been more encouraged than I ever have been. It sounds real now. We've got a sharp new writer on it, Ivan [Reitman] is on it, Harold [Ramis] is on it, I'm on it. And if I can put the catch-net on Billy [Murray] and bring him in, it will be wonderful, if he decides to do it."

But Billy isn't part of it and it's 20 odd years too bloody late.

And while you're at it Dan, drop few stones by next year fatso and then you might be ready.

Aykroyd is the size of a planet. It must be tough for the man to get up every morning, wipe his ass let alone try to champion a deader than dead franchise.

"Dan Aykroyd has been the biggest force in getting "Ghostbusters 3" made".

Yeah, sounds right.

I rewatched Ghostbusters 1 and 2 recently, and I'm not all that excited for a 3rd. These guys seemed old way back in two, I know they won't have aged well if they start now.

Also, "opened a portal to another dimension and something horrible comes through"? REALLY? Wasn't that done in both 1 AND 2?
minkowski writes:

Goddamned it already! Reboot the f*cking franchise!

There's so much f*cking potential here, especially with the revolution in CGI, plus none of the old actors are anything but corpulent corpses, and Bill Murray doesn't even want part of this sh*t.

Plus the original films just aren't that f*cking great. GB2 is like TMNT 2, an inferior sequel to a seminal film, but unlike TMNT, GB hasn't ages well at all.

Murray's an arrogant d*ckhead who looks like Clint Eastwood's grandmother, Akroyd looks like he's getting ready to sail from Germany so he can burst into flames in New Jersey field, and the rest of the cast, if they're still alive, aren't even worth commentary.

Someone SHOOT Akroyd already. He's keeping this property from getting a reboot, and if ANY franchise/series/property could use a modern facelift/reboot/remake, it's Ghostbusters.

f*ck you, Hackroid.

'it's coming soon ! i read half of the script' blah blah blah

make the movie or shut the f*ck up.
minkowski writes:

Hackroid reminds me of Apollo Creed in Rocky 4, who just had to fight the big mean Russian. He just had to get into the ring one last time. To hell with common sense, to hell with dignity. And you see what it got him: a mouth full of blood and brain full of sh*t.

Take a hint, Hackroid.

Dan Aykroyd, what happened, man?! You were f*cking awesome back then. The master of Exposition. Now you're all worn out.
I suggest you retire, man. You are no longer relevant, instead you are now a forced character in every movie you were in circa 1998-Now.

The poor bastard.

The writing in the first Ghostbusters is brilliant. But if they couldn't write a great sequel 25 years ago when they were at end of their peak, how can they hope to come up with one now, long past their creative expiry date?

If the writing of Ghostbusters II and the Ghostbusters video game is any indication of Ramis and Akroyd's level of 'give-a-sh*t,' why not do what Disney is doing on Star Wars; dump the bloated bastard who ran out of good ideas years ago (Lucas/Akroyd), hire some talented young writers, and let take a crack at it.

Sorry Dan, but Billy won't make it much better. It's time to move on. Murray still has a great career WITHOUT reprising his role, and the truth is he can afford not to. If he were to do it, it would not be the hit some expect it to be anyways, and Murray doesn't want to crimp his style since his career is on a role. Also, Ghostbusters 2 was crap. It was nothing like the first one. What made Ghostbusters special in 1984 was the freshness of it. Never before did you have such a big budget mix of horror, sci-fi, and comedy. It was just perfect. I saw it three times in the theater. I saw it opening day right after the last day of class of my 5th grade year. Everything has its time and place, and '84 was the time of Ghostbusters and the place to see it was the theater. It was one of those films that even the rare film-goer went to. Dan should stick to House of Blues and riding around in his geriatric Harley club, and maybe make Blues Brothers 3. But even that won't be what it could be without Belushi, r.i.p. Blues Bros. 2 was sh*t. Murray should keep on trucking. He rocks.

yo people instead of making fun of people's wait and saying the film will be bad why don't you actually wait untill a trailer comes out and make your call then but that would mean you have to actually have the brain power to wait which we all no bearly anyone here has and yes i'll be watching ghostbusters 3

Oh, Dan, Dan, Dan....

I've heard of beating a dead horse...but he's beating a dead carcass of a horse. I really don't see the interest & now its relevancy of the old cast being involved.

I really don't see a way Aykroyd can have this movie being a success...maybe only with a solid plot, but Aykroyd's writing hasn't been known for this...

The idea sounded better on paper...
