Gus Van Sant Directed Alex Pettyfer in Test Scene for "Fifty Shades of Grey" Movie

Gus Van Sant Directed Alex Pettyfer in Test Scene for "Fifty Shades of Grey" MovieSubmit Comment
Focus Features paid $5 million for the film rights to EL James' "Fifty Shades of Grey" novel and hired Kelly Marcel ("Terra Nova") to write the script. There's been very little news regarding who will direct the film, but it turns out that a two-time Oscar nominee has been vying for the job.

The Wrap has learned that Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting), who directed "Promised Land" and "Milk" for the studio, shot a sex scene with Alex Pettyfer (Magic Mike) and an unnamed actress to convince Focus Features that he should get the job. The scene focuses on Anastasia Steele losing her virginity to billionaire Christian Grey.

This doesn't mean that Van Sant or Pettyfer have been hired, since Focus Features has yet to start their search for actors or a director. But since both have a relationship with the studio, it's likely that they will be considered.

Regarding the movie, The Wrap says that producers want a tasteful version of the novel.

"the producers want a tasteful version of the novel"
A new genre has just been invented: the 30 second film with just end credits.
I mean: is it even possible to film a tasteul version of that tasteless dreck of a book??

Basically they don't want to have to rate it 18 and cut out a big percentage of teenage girls who sneakily read the book in the back of class on their kindles.

You can see why Gus Van Sant would go out of his way to get picked as well this film is gonna make a f*ck tonne of money. All the moist mothers flocking to the cinema to see if this soft-core bullsh*t lives up to their expectations, desperately trying to get some kind of excitement in their boring, repetitive pointless excuses for lives. Here's an idea, watch a porno and read a real f*cking book!

Have the producers even read the novel?
