Update: Mel Gibson, John Woo and Sylvester Stallone Won't Direct "The Expendables 3," So Who Will?

Update: Mel Gibson, John Woo and Sylvester Stallone WonSubmit Comment
After the success of "The Expendables" and its sequel, Sylvester Stallone is now hard at work on the third installment. During the last few months, Stallone has been searching for a director, and at one point reached out to Mel Gibson (Braveheart) to take on the franchise.

While many were happy with the choice, Stallone has now updated his Twitter account with news that Gibson is not available. "Sorry, tried hard, Mel's living his own life," he wrote, later adding that John Woo (Face/Off) will also not be directing the film, despite previously expressing interest. "Love John Woo, but he is working in China - 'EX3' Needs freshness, class, and much badass."

But what about Stallone directing it himself? "I would Direct it myself, but I want my HANDS free to fight!!!," he wrote.

And then just twenty minutes later, Stallone hinted that he may have found the right director. At this point it's pure speculation, but many believe the job went to Eran Creevy (Welcome to the Punch). Stay tuned.

Update: Sylvester Stallone just announced that Patrick Hughes (Red Hill) will direct "The Expendables 3."

Guess Simon West thought he was too good, and for once, I agree.

Patrick who? I've never heard of this guy before. Oh well, I guess he must be desperate for a job.

Three shorts and some sh*t I've never seen. Doubt any of you have either.

I also hear Sly is going to use the cast of Facts of Life to save money.

but seriously who gives a f*ck? it's like asking who will direct a porn movie...you'll get the same result - people shooting at each other.

I am a fan of westerns and I was searching for good 'modern' westerns. I came across this movie Red Hill. It isn't an awful movie (I wouldn't say that it was good either), but I can't see ANY reason or indication why ANYONE would think that Hughes is the right man for this job.
