Musician Garth Brooks Turned Down "Saving Private Ryan" Because Tom Hanks Wasn't Big Enough Star

Musician Garth Brooks Turned Down "Saving Private Ryan" Because Tom Hanks WasnSubmit Comment
At one point, country music star Garth Brooks was a huge deal. So huge, that director Jan de Bont wanted him to star in "Twister" and Steven Spielberg wanted him for "Saving Private Ryan." So why did Brooks turn down these amazing opportunities?

According to a new lawsuit filed by Lisa Sanderson against her former partner Brooks, the musician lost out on money because he is a "paranoid, angry, deceitful, and vindictive man who will turn against those closest to him."

Brooks had a film production company set up with Disney, but that didn't go anywhere. Then when Spielberg offered the musician the role of Private Jackson in "Saving Private Ryan," Brooks turned it down, stating that he wanted to play a "bad guy." Since there weren't many prominent "bad guy" roles, that opportunity fell apart.

According to the lawsuit, another reason Brooks turned down "Saving Private Ryan" is "because he was unwilling to share the spotlight with other less successful stars like Tom Hanks, Matt Damon, and Ed Burns." Eventually the role of Private Jackson went to Barry Pepper and the film got an Oscar nomination for Best Picture.

Spielberg didn't give up on Brooks. He later sent him the script for "Twister," but the musician turned that role down as well. "He refused to share the screen with the tornado, which he called the real star," the lawsuit says.

And most recently, Brooks was offered a chance to produce Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland," but the singer demanded to co-write the script. Negotiations quickly fell apart and Brooks missed out on another massive hit.

Well, at the time, it was the truth. If I'm not mistaken, Brooks was busy ripping off Bowie with his Gaines persona. No loss though, Pepper was good in that part.

Uh, perhaps I missed something, but where the hell did Brooks earn the right to star in anything? He's a country music singer, correct?

Dude's career is In Pieces and he's still Ropin' The Wind.

So the guy who, at this point, had two Oscars, wasn't a big enough star huh?

Is this fake news? Cause everything I read in that story had me laughing my ass off. This is fake, right? No one is that f*cking stupid. This came from Page 6 of The National Enquirer, right? Good one, Alex.

Fat f*cking bag of sh*t country music sucks anyway.

Spielberg still hasn't given up on Brooks. He's trying to get him a role in JURASSIC PARK 4. He should fit right in with the other forgotten dinosaurs from the 90s.

He was also called in for porn, but he refused to share the screen with vagina.
He thought c*ck was "THE REAL STAR"

@cress
Wait you serious about Jurassic Park 4? I sadly believe that. Although I think we can admit Sam Neil and Jeff Goldblum were pretty good in the sequels they each lead.

This does sound like something from The Onion. I can't recall seeing Garth Brooks doing any acting aside from pretending to be a country singer, and he was terrible even at that.

Never heard of this guy, he hasn't been in any popular films like Saving Private Ryan or Twister so he can't be that important!
Kurskij writes:

Is he a big deal in States?

He must've been if Spieljew tried to boost box-office in southern states by offering him a role.

Twister came out in 1996 Alex so either Steven Spielberg has a time machine and only you know or you need to edit your articles for a change.
