First Look: Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke and Keri Russell on "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" SetSubmit Comment
"Dawn of the Planet of the Apes," which is a sequel to "Rise of the Planet of the Apes," is currently filming in Vancouver, Canada. And today, we have the first set photos of Andy Serkis, Keri Russell, Jason Clarke and plenty of actors acting like apes. Check out the photos below.

"Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" is set 15 years after the events of the first film. It will focus on a group of human scientists who are struggling to survive alone in San Francisco, while Caesar (Serkis) is attempting to maintain dominance over his kingdom. James Franco will not reprise his role, not even as a cameo.

The new movie is directed by Matt Reeves (Let Me In, Cloverfield) and co-stars Kodi Smit-McPhee, Judy Geer and Gary Oldman. It's set to hit theaters on May 23rd, 2014.

These pics are all unintentionally funny for some reason.

Maybe Andy Serkis can do a motion capture performance as Channing Tatum. If he can give an ape emotion he can do anything.

I wonder what starving people in third-world countries think of this nonsense. Oh, thatís right, they canít even see this because they donít have computers. Because they live in ditches and sh*t.

But if they could, theyíd probably say, "Iím just glad James Franco wonít be in this one."

More monkey business, and this time Keri gets to join a real film instead of either B-Side SyFy sh*t or minor television characters. What will she ever do with this new influx of attention? Who cares?

And I don't expect this one to be particularly exciting. The original was interesting, contrasted with the Burton abomination and with consideration of the excellent VFX, but not much more. Really a quite stupid story, although well-acted, made passably plausible through a last minute employment of the cheap 'deus ex machina' of a world-spanning high-mortality disease, when in the original the cause of mankind's extermination was clearly a far more plausible nuclear war.

Maybe I'll catch this one via DVD, or an even better venue, TPB.
