"The Shining" Prequel Gets Title and Writer

"The Shining" Prequel Gets Title and WriterSubmit Comment
Warner Bros has announced that it's moving forward with a prequel to Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining" and has hired "The Walking Dead" producer Glen Mazzara to write the script. The new movie is called "The Overlook Hotel."

Very few story details have been released, but the focus of the movie may end up being on the Delbert Grady character, played by Philip Stone in the original film. He served as the caretaker of the hotel prior to the events in "The Shining."

The problem is that Warner Bros may not own the section of the Stephen King book that delves into the early history of the haunted hotel, which was eventually removed from the 1977 novel. King is in the process of finding out if the studio owns the rights.

"I'm not saying I would put a stop to the project, because I'm a nice guy [and] I'm always curious to see what will happen," he previously said. "But you know what? I would be just as happy if it didn't happen."

Meanwhile, King has been working on "The Shining" sequel book, called "Doctor Sleep." It will hit stores in September.

Warner Bros. prequel idea sounds better than the synopsis for King's sequel, "Doctor Sleep".

Glen Mazzara-the recently sh*t-canned showrunner for THE WALKING DEAD. I wonder why? Maybe because AMC saw how dreadful the second half of this season was. That season finale was beyond terrible.

^Began watching season one. Pilot was good, the rest of the season - didn't get what all the fuss was about.

Some characters are poorly written, most don't even act like human beings. Grimes' wife for instance is ehhh... Retarded like a f*cking inbred shar pei crossed with a light post.

Basically it's "People doing stupid sh*t then getting eaten by zombies with other people crying and getting right back to doing stupid sh*t".

Now just hold on a goddamned f*cking second.. Did I give you permission to make a prequel to one of my all time favorite movies? Lol

So.. This will be based on a part of the novel that wasn't released? It might as well just be an original story.. I'm confused and I'm hoping they don't ruin this..

Needs to be more violence and killing. The first was too tame for MY liking.

lol. Even the title screams unoriginality, laziness and borderline plagiarism. Terrible. Just f*cking terrible. Hopefully King shuts this trash down, or at the very least it ends up as a one-note television series, never to be heard from again.

As for Doctor Sleep, King should have written that sh*t first, rather than Wind Though the Keyhole, but since his talent has devolved into taking fast-food counter orders from internet idiots instead of following his own passion and imagination, I don't care either way.
